To anyone who's purchased this; Does this version support online multiplayer? Are you able to play online with people on the Steam version of the game?

When you install the game via GOG, it comes with the server files, so I assume that it will work with Multiplayer.

Should have no problems playing with steam users as well.

Yes the game still has multiplayer, sadly terraria's multiplayer system is still a pain to use and yes you can play with Steam users since Terraria does not use Steamworks.

Played multiplayer here just fine on Windows XP. It's best to run the server from a non-player pc, else the user may experience stutter during gameplay. That could depend of the performance of your pc though.

I see the fact that they never improved the multiplayer set up as ultimately beneficial. You can bet that if they'd improved it they would have done it through Steamworks and then we wouldn't be able to have cross-service multiplayer or play it over a LAN with no internet. Hell, the GOG version might not have happened if the game was more Steamworks integrated.
