Hey guys just got tv and my joystick isnt working in game properly. It works fine for other modern games (bf3 hawx etc) and fine in freespace and aquanox but no matter how many times i calibrate it in windows and in game itself it just spins all crazy like to the ups and lefts and its pretty much unplayable. Its a ch products fighter stick. Can anyone help?

What solved it for me:

Edit dosbox_tv_single.conf in your Terminal Velocity installation folder using notepad.
Add a bit about joysticks to the top so that it says:

[joystick]
timed=false

[ipx]
etc...

Start the game, recalibrate and it should work.
Somehow the calibrations are off. Tried with a Logitech Force 3D joystick, and it didn't see the axes properly (pushing the stick forward and back simply pushed the throttle back and forth, with no control).

I had the wrong axis assignments as well (stick twist was throttle), but I selected the std. 'joystick' in-game and that made the basic x/y axes work just fine- is this also not working for you?

You could try forcing a specific joysticktype in the aforementioned dosbox_tv_single.conf:

edit 1: using DOSBox's swap34=true setting (under [joystick]) in dosbox_tv.conf I got the throttle axis to work.

edit 2: If you're feeling adventurous you could probably set up all buttons and axes any way you want using DOSBox' keymapper:

I'm using a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Trying to figure out how to use the turning of the stick to go left & right and use the joystick to pitch up & down and banking left and right. If anyone can tell me how to do this let me know.

Wished Terminal Reality releases the source code to Terminal Velocity so that a source port can make today's gaming flight joysticks much more useful and effectively.

This worked great for me,Thanks for posting the fix!!
I tried the "timed=false" and "timed=true" options in the .conf file, but my Xbox 360 controller still doesn't work right. The ship constantly rolls and it's uncontrollable with the controller. Is there another way to fix the joystick sensitivity/dead zone problem?

IronArcturus:
Test your 360 controller with other it works with them but not TV, DOSbox may simply not be detecting it as a joystick.
The Xbox 360 controller works fine with other joystick DOSBox games like Slipstream 5000. It's only in Terminal Velocity where it doesn't work correctly. I even tried the 'calibrate' option in the menu but the ship still is uncontrollable. Is there anything else that might fix it?

Check your config files for your joysticks in 't be afraid to backup a file and then change it to see if it fixes it.

Do you know how to change the joystick dead-zone sensitivity for DOSBox? I'm not sure where that is in the .conf file, but if I could adjust that then the ship would stay stable in flight.

I would really appreciate a way to set deadzones, too!
Thank you. This worked for me.
