What will be your pros and contras?

As for me, I prefer DCSS. ToME is just turn-based Diablo, and it seems unbalanced.

I don't know...I have a hard rime choosing as both have interesting classes that have their own flavor.

As for balance DCSS tends to be even less balanced as you can meet worms (!!!) in the early dungeon levels that will wreck you.

I think both games have the pluses and minuses but it just depends on what you are looking for in a game :)

Also, try playing an Ogre Abyss Knight, it's fun :D
I find both fairly difficult, but nothing compares to being chased by an invisible Sigmund on DL2 in DCSS. People tell me escape is possible, and I'm sure it is, but on DL2 you're far from guaranteed to have a teleport in inventory.

ToME seems to have a more consistent difficulty. I tend to die around the same level with the same character types across different games. DCSS is much more swingy. I kinda prefer that because I'm an old school sicko. ToME's large tiles are very nice, though.

They're close enough in enjoyability to induce decision paralysis when trying to choose between them.

What is DCSS? I am blanking as to what it would stand for.

I still haven't managed to complete this game. I keep getting killed by random purples showing up on the early maps before the characters have a lot of escape methods. For those that finished the game at least once, what was your first character that completed the game?

A freeware dungeon crawler? Thanks, downloaded. :-)

Und? Schon ausprobiert?

Btw. only special keys work with the current dcss version in tile mode on Arch Linux, but at least a-z, A-Z don't work. No problem with modified keys and non alphanumeric keys i.e. actrl+s, ctrl+q, backspace and the arrow keys work.

Ich habe auch gedacht, dass ich mir nicht danken würde…

Do you know brogue? It's easier to get started. It has no tiles i.e. is ascii only, but has nice light and color effects.

Well, I guess this looks like a system crash on a C-64, right?

No. Not at all. The screenshots don't do it justice, you have to see it in motion. Imho it's the only ascii game that looks really good.

Achso, welche Version von dcss hast du probiert? Bei 0.17.1 kann man eigentlich nicht beim Tutorial sterben. Früher ging es sehr einfach.
