When release? it says soon does it mean this year?

It means nothing, not this year for sure. In November kickstarter update they stated to open pre-orders in "early 2021". With so many delays and slow development go figure.

Then "soon" must mean something completely different in their vocabulary

now that system shock remake is available as preorder, what about other languages than english?
for ~50€ other languages like german, italian, french are the very least one could have expected...

Update #77 from their Kickstarter says they are planning on a late Summer 2021 release date.

Have they updated the demo, or is it still that horrible pre-alpha demo?

I hope that goes well for you. I never pre-order anything anymore, as it seems like there's about a 50% chance of the game turning out to be a complete disaster. I always wait a couple weeks to make sure it's getting positive reviews before I commit. I'm excited about Diablo 2 as well, but was very glad I didn't pre-order Warcraft III Reforged, for example...
