I forgot how many times i tried to play this game, how many times i tried to enjoy.
My real problem is with the gameplay. I found it very very complicated, I never know what I supposed to do, Im always dying. And I cant get a gun to face the enemies.

It made me reinstall games like Quake and others, just to remember how games are supposed be fun

srry for the english
I know exactly how you feel.
If you compare "games like Quake and others" to System Shock 2, even if it is only in terms of the fun factor, then I get part of why you haven't been able to get into it. System Shock isn't supposed to be a "pure" FPS, in the sense that, while it presents itself in first person, it was always more of a survival horror RPG than a shooter. This is not to say you're wrong to think Quake and other games of the sort are fun, because they absolutely are, and there's nothing wrong with you not being able to get into System Shock 2. Believe me, I tried way too hard to get into some of the classics and highly acclaimed games here on GOG, but there's no way I could learn to enjoy games like or [url=http://www.gog.com/game/divine_divinity]Divine Divinity -- and those aren't even games outside my favourite genres, they're an action-adventure and an RPG, two genres I'm very fond of, but I just couldn't, for the life of me, get into them.

If you don't like the game, there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever, though I understand it can be a bit frustrating, as we tend to have high expectations regarding these games that are acclaimed as classics and stepping stones of the video game industry.

Hell, if you think this is hard to get into try to play the first game.
It's not that hard, it's just so boring.

It's not boring, and the hard thing is getting used to the (now dated) interface and controls (which are FAR more dated in the first game). Sounds like he is used to more traditional shooters like Quake and Doom.

OP, have you played Deus Ex ?
It's always kind of funny when people use "dated" to mean "not designed for a console controller".

No, dated is when the camera movment isn't controlled by mouse movment ,you crouch or tilt your head by pressing a button in the HUD, change a weapon (it's a fps, remember ?) by selecting it from an inventory, and the list go on.

*I'm talking about SS1
No, you were talking about SS2, then parenthetically compared it to "the first game". So you called them both dated.

As an RPG designed to be played with a mouse and keyboard, SS2's interface really isn't dated at all.

Both are dated, but the first is way more dated than the second, no doubt about that.

I don't agree with the way of thinking that if something is considerd a RPG it should be acceptable to have crappy controls. SS2 is first and foremost an FPS, and one with some RPG elements (the same with Deus Ex). In games like TES series or Arx Fatalis I would say the opposite.

Seems like the OP is just don't used to the (relative) heaviness of the game compared to the more action oriented FPS's of the time or modern ones.

Then why don't you explain to us exactly how SS2's FPS controls are crappy. You aim with the mouse, shoot with the buttons, and move and select weapons with the keyboard. Exactly like 99% of all the other PC FPSs out there.

^ That!

Sadly, you'll miss one the greatest games on the PC but there is nothing wrong with that if you can't get into. Games are supposed to be fun; if you can't get fun out of it, better look somewhere else! ;-)

ps. Maybe a walkthrough/ FAQ could help you a bit. If not, leave it in your library for some years and then return back to try again. You never know! ;-)

I'd like to know how the controls in SS2 are crappy as well. The only difference I could see was inventory management. Instead of picking up an item automatically by walking over it ala traditional FPS, you had to interact with the items as well as manage inventory. Managing the inventory was hardly difficult though.

People do the same thing when they say "X game has bad level design" but you don't always get specifics on how the level design is bad. Same thing with "the enemies you fight are boring and unoriginal", they usually don't explain what would make them better. This one is my favorite, "the interface is dated". I like that one because to this day, I still have no idea what a "modern interface" is. Seriously, I really want to know what people are thinking with this one.

Pro tip: Making a criticism and providing details gives weight to your claim and makes others more likely to take what you say seriously. Making a criticism without providing details just makes you look like a whiner.
