voodoo47: yeah, grab EE, it's better. SSP/CD saves should be compatible...
Figured as much after reading further into threads here; thanks for the response voodoo47. The biggest immediate benefit over SSP (that I can perceive) is a much needed performance increase over the massive slowdown when running in Dosbox @ 1024x768; that alone will make a big difference in terms of the overall experience for me.

voodoo47: - mouselook mode is unsuitable for cyberspace, disable it when plugged in.

korell: How so? Given, I've only played through one cyberspace section so far, but I had mouselook on and left mouse button added thrust whilst right mouse button fired a weapon (once I'd picked up the relevant software item). I think the A and D keys still worked, too, for sideways movement. If this isn't the intended cyberspace control style and isn't recommended, how should it be played?
i think its some kind of personal taste advise :D

tried the cyber stuff without mouselook because of this hint :D ... but after a minute i turned it back on because i enjoy these sections waaay more with mouselook ;)

Is there a way to rebind the key for mouse look toggle?
check Custom (Mouselook) profile in controls.cfg. removed the cybspace hint, it indeed works fine.
Can you edit the op and tell us to re bind the keys if we want to?

It is an advertized feature after all

Hopefully you didn't mean me since I am hardly a kid - even though I want to be :)
I just bought the game and looked into the keyboard configuration file. A bit complicated for people not knowing much about a computer or programs I'd guess. Luckily I am not one of them. However it would be nice to have a complete list of all mappable keys (I needed numpad0 and delete - both are not featured in the already bound keys so I had to guess them). I would also like to know if it is possible to bind mouse buttons as well (middlemousebutton for example). As I said the devs should include a list and maybe a short manual how to edit the config file for unexperienced users who thought they could easily rebind the keys to their liking. Other that this I like the EE very much. I was wondering if it is possible to keep the original aspect ration of the intro splash screens and the menu.

Edit: By the way: in the sshock.ini there is the vsync option. According to the rem lines the possible values are "on" and "off" but the default value is "no".

voodoo47: - High-res objects: this graphical update replaces the existing 32*32/64*64 object textures with 256*256 ones. Extract the mod, extract the update, see the readme for install instructions. This one's up to the user's preference.
Does the enhanced version already have these integrated? I ask because I cannot get the mod to work following the internal readme instructions--keeps telling me the citmat.res can't be found and yet the file is right there in the same directory...;) I actually get two different results in verbal feed back in the pop-upcli Window that runs...one result when I run the bat file w/o admin; another when I run it as admin...;) But both amount to same thing: doing nothing to citmap.res... Just wondering...

If you mean the high res objects, I had some difficulty too. Firstly, you need both the files as the smaller one is just a newer executable version. As for the issue I had, the install.bat file calls the executable but doesn't specify the parameters, those being the citmat.res file and the location of the new BMP files. That line in the install.bat should be:

hi-res3DSS.exe CITMAT.RES newBMPs

But then whilst it does run and does create a new (and larger) citmat.res file, it does have a few output messages for some missing BMPs. In game I haven't really noticed anything, though. Not sure it's worth it yet. Will need to do some tests with screenshots. There is a replacement texture for the surgery station, which you see at the start of the game, so that might be an ideal object to test it out on by comparing some screenshots.

Thanks much! Am about to give it a whirl! --Worked great--Thanks again...;)

Edit: Been playing for the last couple of hours straight...no crashes whatever...(Win10x64) ...Most stable for me is 1024x768 hardware rendering...seems rock solid...even more solid than the software modes @1920x1080/1200. That's where I'll stay...selecting "custom res" for 3d acceleration seem only to scale the image up beyond 1024x768, anyway, so really there is no IQ benefit to running > 1024x768 that I can readily see. Great game...like it better now than I ever did...!

Well, turns out the high res objects DOES make some difference. Here's that surgery station I mentioned, in both the original citmat.res file and the new one with the improved texture.
