I remember waaay back I posted a thread in the Duke Nukem forums asking for Shadow Warrior.
There were absolutely no clue if we would ever get it. BUT WE DID! :D

Now, how big are the odds that we could also get the first System Shock?
I said this also in the Nukem forums about Shadow Warrior, same guys made it so it should be easy. Right?

I would imagine now that Night Dive and Star Insurance worked out a deal for SS2, SS1 should make an appearance sometime this year. But that's just a guess.

It really all comes down to who owns the rights to what; GOG obviously doesn't want to get sued, so they have to make sure everything is legally correct before they can release games. Assuming everything in SS1 is now owned by Star Insurance, and DOSBox allows everything to run well (although I've heard people talk of SS1 as "sluggish" in DOSBox), really I don't know what's holding Night Dive and GOG back. (Maybe they're working on collecting awesome extras, like making a deal for the soundtrack and what not.)

Perhaps GOG is waiting until System Shock 2 sales slow a little (hey, it's the #1 game on the wishlist; it's almost surreal that it's here) because they "inject" fresh excitement into the fans...
Night Dive is currently hard at work on getting No One Lives Forever, but they're also working on getting System Shock. I asked them and they said they were working on it.

Stephen Kick - he has a LinkedIn page with kind of a douchy profile picture.
Thanks mate
I really wouldn't care much for SS1 unless it had some balancing fixes. I'd love to see a fan made source port that fixes the graphics DOOM source port style.

People have tried that...and immediately got served a C&D from EA Games.
nnno, that was actually a remake attempt, I believe. a source port cannot be made, as the source code is not available - all you can do is attempt to create a similar engine that would load the original data, and that is a huge undertaking.

Ah. I though it meant porting it to Source, Valve's game engine - too long on Black Mesa, I suppose.
A little bird chirped in my ear that Acclaim is doing an remake of System Shock... This can't be right, no?
