Hey guys, I'm on level 3 and it's starting to annoy me. I don't know if it's a bug or I get something wrong but I don't understand what is going on with the sight stims. There are times that they make everything bright, there other times that they shed some light but they don't provide the best vision you can have in the dark (though it's enough) and there other times that they simply won't work. Am I stupid or something is wrong?

Edit: An observation. I don't know if it's coincidence but after I die and be revived in that chamber, then the stims won't work. I just use them and everything remains dark.

Whatever, I found the lantern.
i remember reading somewhere that the patches/stims other than healing have negative effects after a while sort of to emulate the crash from drug abuse or something

maybe you were using them so much that you needed them to see normally

i dunno for sure i never used anything other than the med ones myself
This is exactly why the detox patches exist.

problem with the lantern is that gives away your position to hostiles in the dark and consumes energy that is shared by energy weapons and shield :)... the stims works really good just learn the paths, print the maps you find in the goodies section and you will stand a better chance! and as some other guys said, use detox to counter the side effects.

Good suggestion for someone new to SS. I finished the game some days after I started this topic. Personally, I used shield only in a couple of occasions and I prefered conventional weapons, and so I had plenty of energy in store. Come to think of it, I used energy mainly for the lantern. In addition, my good memory helped me a lot later in the game, whenever I had to backtrack, I could easily find my way. The levels are not extremely complex but I believe that someone who is not good at memorizing things could get a bit lost.

In general, I loved the game. It became one of my favorite games of the genre, it is special.

It's way beyond the time it was released. Such fun mechanics! Now the music is also a great deal in the experience so you better have an spare sound card for the synths or the MP3 version of the Roland Hardware.
