While playing, I accidentally rewrote my save so that whenever I load it loads into me dying. I'm now stuck in a loop where I keep dying as soon as I respawn and can'tt do anything.

Is there anything I can do other than starting a new game? Can I somehow restore an old save?

if you were deliberately overwriting the autosave (as in, the one save which only has one reason of existence - to provide a backup in case something goes wrong), then the word you are looking for is "dumb".

we ain't got a patch for that.

Is this before or after fixing the Pattern Buffer? (Cyborg Conversion if not) If it's after, then just die and respawn and save after that in a safer spot. If it's before, unless you have backup saves from before you might be screwed and have to restart.

I've made the same mistake in games like Tomb Raider 3 and Half Life 1.
