I've invested in PSI, Agility and Endurance, but I've run our of PSI and Health hypos and can't get past the two turrets in the Cargo Bay area. Thought I'd go back up to medical and heal, maybe buy some hypos, but there are too many zomboids hanging around the entrance to the maintenance shaft.

Is there a way to take out the turrets that I haven't though of? I have no gun skills. Thinking I might have to start over unless there is another way past those things.
I made the same mistake on my first blind attempt at playing this game. What I learned from the ordeal (which saw me looting all the alcohol I could find to refill my HP after running out of PSI hypos) is that you really need to be economic with your use of force.

Don't shoot anything that doesn't need to be shot. Use your wrench as often as possible and only use PSI to destroy turrets and cameras. Some turrets and cameras can be bypassed with high agility. Don't try and shoot protocol droids, but rather buff up your agility and learn how to get close and get out of range as they self-destruct. If you happen to have Localized Pyro-Kinesis you can also make yourself immune to their suicide bombing attacks!

Don't bother with fighting the bigger bots. They are slow and easy to outmaneuver anyways. I hear you can crush them with the lifts though I never succeeded with this myself. They are so slow you should be able to loot the area and get away before they can train their guns at you. The agility buff really helps.

It is at the end of this part of the game that I finally found a character concept I like: Laser Rapier with buffs and ranged support from PSI powers! Psychic super ninja from the future.
You'd think people had never played an RPG before. Magic user is always brutally difficult starting out.
Suyfan, thanks for the comments. I'll start a new game and be more judicious with my use of supplies.

ZylonBane, I've played many a mage, but every game is different. You can't generalize.
No need to be a passive aggressive asshat about this, a new player can not know how long they will have to go without finding replicators or other relevant pickups once you cross the threshold into the cargo bays. Up until this point in the game your only concern as a new player is learning how to kill and avoid getting killed, not so much resource management. This is the "shit just got real" section of the game where you learn this is not the kind of RPG to liberally sprinkle a little bit of everthing across a gameplay segment to make sure everyone can pass it without dying.

Before you start assuming otherwise, I love the game for this very reason. My first time playing this section of the game is one of my more immersive gaming experiences in recent years. It made me realise this isn't just about exploring winding corridors and applying-wrench-to-face, you have to think a little bit like a survivalist and stock up and ration at all times on your first playthrough because the game is not holding any hands.
I agree. Lots of fun, once you know what's what. It's like my first time through Call of Cthulhu. Absolute terror, and not knowing what was coming next.

But I do have one further question. I restarted the game and am now in Engineering A again, heading to the Cargo Bay, but just before the first turret, the protocol bots and zombies seem to be respawning endlessly and rapidly, which makes it impossible to go forward. Is this really infinite respawing, or do I just have to duke it out for a while?
It has infinite respawning, though it's not immediate as there is some time delay and randomisation as to when (and sometimes where) the respawning occurs- and if monsters already exist no more will be spawned. That area is particularly infamous for having lots of respawn though, it's generally a lot less pronounced through the rest of the game.
Argh. At least I have 11 health hypos and 10 of the PSI, though that can get used up pretty darned fast. Makes me wish I'd invested in at least one level of weaponry so I can use those grenades I've been carrying around.

Have others following the PSI path invested some points into weapons? I usually do in games like Deus Ex where I'm following a sneak path but need some weapon backup, but the modules are so rare I though I'd best follow PSI only.

Okay, now I know what I'm doing.

My next question is, how on Earth did I miss this game when it first came out? It has similarities with Deus Ex and Thief, two of my favourite games of all time. I can't imagine why I didn't buy it. Anyway, glad I have it now.

I am playing this for the first time on my MAC too. I have picked up the Marine and it is funny but I am pretty much wrenching everything. Wrench became by weapon of choice. The "go to" tool of destruction that will invert the possible doom of human civilization. Wrench.

Anyway. To your problem. I had issues with bypassing the turrets too. The Many kind of spawn in big numbers there but that is not an issue. I would simply hack the console near that monkey station where you find some of the cyber modules. It is near your nanite spawn chamber. Then you are good to go.

I am playing on the hardest difficulty. So scared.
