Is it me or the hacker is plain useless in System Shock 2? There's nothing to hack and you alwàys hbve to fight the enemies with a wrench because you used all your ammo to kill a single zombie… Did I miss a way to play hacker properly?

Could (and should) be, but still' sometimes I can't see any other solutions than going shoot mode and beat tha ass of everybody in the room until you're the last one standing.

you can just run. or lower the difficulty (yes, this can be done at any time). or check out some newbie guides, maybe youtube let's plays.

Navy start works out just fine, you can even take the initial +2 Standard Weapons just like a Marine can. You should be using the wrench against hybrids and monkeys early on no matter what your build is - if you aren't yet able to dispose of them safely and reliably, you will pick it up as you go along. (I also advise crouching before you go melee with monkeys; trying to hit them from a standing position is a huge pain.)

it's pretty much just you because picking navy hacker is the easiest way to win the game. You have access to anything especially money so you never have to worry about running out of ammo and stuff. Btw if you didn't find anything to hack, then you should seriously consider having your eyes examined, no jokes here. And firing a whole mag at one dude? They're slow, take like three or four wrench hits and on low skills just like three bullets, so i guess it might be something you're doing wrong.

Yes, there's nothing to hack... other than doors, crates, replicators, turrets, GamePigs, and [spoiler].
