CDPR taught me never to preorder ever again, no matter how sure I am that I'll buy on day one.

And is there somewhere else I can buy it since I don't want to give money to GOG anymore after they sold out to Chinese censorship and removed Devotion.

I just noticed that there is a slightly hidden demo:

https://www.gog.com/game/system_shock_demo

I'm just downloading it. Let's see.

It's apparently going to be available on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store.

I've been away from GOG forums for awhile now. What is this other person talking about?

They're referring to a Taiwanese-made survival horror game called Devotion. Because it is Taiwanese (and they didn't do themselves any favours by specifically poking and jabbing the PRC) it got review bombed by Chinese players on Steam, leading to the game getting pulled from Steam. This all happened back in 2019 when the game was first released.

Fast-forward to December 2020 and GOG makes an announcement that they are going to release it, China message bombs GOG with various threats, the most important ones being that CD Projekt would be cut out of the Chinese market. CDPR flinched and backed out of releasing Devotion a couple days later.

Now, I can understand being burned from Cyberpunk but if the OP of this thread is wanting to take their online game money elsewhere because of what happened with Devotion, they're gonna be found wanting because Steam succumbed to Chinese pressure too.
while certainly not ideal, only very, very few players can afford to say "screw the chinese market, we don't need it". GOG is definitely not one of them.

will be checking Devotion out, if it can be purchased somewhere - if something makes the little red Pooh mad, then it's probably going to be good.
