the tracks are just the files you get everywhere, so the tracks arent on a same volume, it's really sad cause i wanted to get the version off gog.com cause of the soundtrack as i thought it was maybe remastered or proper handled but no cheap upload from already known files..... not professional!

When all the bars are almost permanently red, you know you're making a career as a producer for the next summer hit. Normalize that shit and pull the sliders all the way up to the strip of masking tape with the number "11" written on them, you hipster, you!
Almost any somewhat significant audio player nowadays has a built-in option for volume normalisatiion across tracks, albums or bands. My 10 years old soundcard can even do that on-the-fly. There isn't really a reason to complain.
see it's sad when people assume wrong, im in the production business myself and im not talking about the LOUDNESS WAR, but that the tracks arent each other adjusted! the tracks are simply just put together from (i think through the looking glass page) or something and just put in as teh soundtrack as i remember those i think. this was not normalized (normally bad procedure as incorrect), mixed properly in loudness balance etc.

so before you talk shit get educated...

Check the CREDITS song especially, this one is poorly put in, not adjusted at all to the other tracks.

check RMS for example and then talk bullshit again to me,

yeah maybe those new youtube producers, but before you talk bullshit learn yourself how to mix and master and show me you got knowledge instead of blabering bullshit. cannot stand when people have no experience and wanna talk here about production..... check RMS, loudness war, mixing, mastering, good luck for the next few years!

Are they? Do the relative volumes of the different tracks in-game match what's included in the soundtrack?

I'm legitimately curious.
For the credits track at least it's easy enough to check-- just fire up SS2 and click on the Credits button. Indeed, that track plays quietly.

im not from the US, and when havin no clue anymore people talk about grammar, thats the normal way i see on the internet.... nice one, im glad unexperienced bullshitters reign the net, lol.
If you are a music producer, then you would know that in the pop world, they had different conventions in the 90's about what is right, and weren't quite as set in their ways as we are here in 2013. But the idea behind normalization is for people to not have to reach for the volume knob on their car stereo system or cheap headphones after every track. To be honest, this really isn't a bad issue on SS2 as you seem to suggest. At least, I haven't heard any major issues where I had to adjust the volume on my PC. For better or worse, the sound design was intentionally thought out.

The key thing here is you are applying a 2013 pop paradigm to something that is largely orchestral in scope. Let me know if I'm wrong, but when you talk about normalization, I get the feeling you really are thinking about compression which is a big no no in music that specifically requires a large dynamic range as part of the emotional impact unless the intended audience is listening in their cars or ear buds (a radio situation for instance).

As for gog's stance, they set out to deliver each game in as close to representation of the original as possible while still trying to run it on modern systems. They don't "remaster" games.
