Is there any way (legit or hack-ey) to disable the radar's 'ping' sound in the original Syndicate. It annoys me to the point where I can no longer play the game. (Obviously I'd like to retain the other SFX & Music)

That's all!

That's a tricky one, but I think I've got a solution, although it took me some time ;-)
I hacked the file containing in-game sounds and replaced the bytes of the radar's ping with silence. All you have to do, is replacing the original (but make a backup copy first).

- Download the attached "picture" and rename it to SOUND-0.DAT
- Use it to replace this file \Syndicate Plus\SYNDICAT\DATA\SOUND-0.DAT

If anybody wants to do it himself, grab an hex-editor open \Syndicate Plus\SYNDICAT\DATA\SOUND-0.DAT and replace the bytes 0x212B0 to 0x227FE with 0x80.

Dude.... just wow!

Seriously, was not expecting a solution, let alone one of this quality. Massive kudos for taking the time to do that mate, I really appreciate it. My hex editing skills are... nonexistent lol.

Now, time to rewind to 1993 :D

You are a genius. I can apply hex edits easily enough, but I definitely can't create my own hex fixes :S
