Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't recall it being that expensive to reload the persuadertron.

It's not persuadertron, it's just rare game 'debug' error. In some mission (on continent shaped like africa or left side of the world map, I don't remember now), near the evacuate point one of the guards or police will spawn security card when dead and you can pick up this invalid item. I was surprised when I got 'new weapon put to research' or something like that and these two persuadertrons, one of them overpriced with image of torso (good to sell ;-) and other one worthless with + graphic in inventory, both of them had strange number name in description, also new item put to research. This reminds me similar error item in pokemon game, where error could spawn new pokemon with everything strange and incorrect.

Bug with save/load and incorrect money values will appear no matter what in normal game and sometimes can stop your money increase from taxes until you play next mission or pacify the rebel. The only solution I know to avoid that is save only after you complete mission, you can click accept and go to menu to save.
