Hello

For some weird reason my mouse doesn't seem to work correctly , in Windows and all things it is fine, however on launching Syndicate the mouse pointer moves hardly at all on the main menu screen (I haven't moved past that)

Big sweeping movements of the mouse result in little movement, perhaps this is a DOS BOX issue? I don't know.

Any thoughts?

mini update, having experimented a little, it actually seems to be moving in diagonals that's the issue.

If I mouse the mouse precisely up and down it is fine, however any deviation from that the mouse sensitivity slows right down.

It's very weird.. anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm having the same issue.
Same here. Generally speaking, game is a little bit laggy...

Windows 7 here.
Might have something to do with Resolution difference... I know I have similar issues with the scaling the cursor sensitivity in some old DOS games, Namely the original System Shock. It was caused by the increased resolution without a relative adjustment the cursor sensitivity. This sounds like it might be a result of the Vertical Axis being scaled while the Horizontal not... check the config files and adjust them to match, if possible.
Hey thanks for your reply Kenshiro, and kinda glad to see it isn't just me...

Regarding adjusting config files.. sadly I have no idea how to do that. I have looked into the problem myself, however had no joy in figuring it out.

Configuring DOSBOX seems pretty complication to the uninitiated. I have emailed GOG as well so I am hoping they can come up with something.

In your installation folder there is a file called "dosboxSyndicate.conf".

It contains a setting called "sensitivity".

This value can be changed and should change your mouse sensitivity in Syndicate accordingly.
Thanks Humblegar, however sadly that didn't help.

Increasing the sensitivity just makes the up and down really fast and sensitive and any other direction slower.. so it has the same effect for me.

One thing I have noticed though, is that the problem goes away if you play in a window.

However despite using he dosboxSyndicate.conf file to tell the window to be in a different resolution, it just stays the same.

If I could get this game in a bigger window then the problem would be solved.

I've had no word from GOG yet so still trying to fix this myself, with your help.
I managed to get the game running in a window at the right size now, and thus this has resolved the mouse issue.. even though it would be better full screen it isn't actually an issue really.

I link you to the following thread where I got this sorted.

Cheers!
If you want a smoother mouse experience in the game you have to do the following thing.

Open up the Config file "dosboxSyndicate" located in the Syndicate folder under GoG.com on your harddrive.

Check for the line "autolock=true" and then change it to "autolock=false". Then save the file and simply start the game. This will make mouse movement much easier and smoother. Works with some games. I hope I helped you out a bit.
If you want to really solve the mouse issues with any game that runs under dos. I recommend downloading the latest SVN build of DOSBox from www.emucr.com. Make sure you download as well libpng12.dll from www.dll-files.com. Your mouse issues are over. CAUTION! may need to run the game in admin mode just in case.
