I never liked SWARS as much - it was still a decent game, but Syndicate just had something that the sequel never did.
Syndicate Wars wouldn't catch the spirit of the original. At first I even put it away again,
as I was disappointed. I took me some tries, loading it up again. It slowly grew on for
what it was. I liked the story, the book of katharsis, there were some memorable
missions. It's a game that has character. But it's a rough transition when you
arrive directly after playing Syndicate. There are time I like to fire up Syndicate,
and there are moods, where the pace of Syndicate Wars is fitting.

Oh, I didn't read this thread closely, and just now saw that it runs via DOS, so compatibility wouldn't be too hard. I'm guessing EA is just being finicky right now; the first Syndicate wasn't even initially planned to be released here.

Alright were the hell did you get the whole "syndicate wasn't even initially planned to be released here" thing because if it's what Paul Barnett said in that giant bomb bombcast then you really need to find a better source because Paul Barnett is known to talk out of his umm rear plus given that he is just a creative director of a small sub company of Bioware which in turn is a small part of EA I seriously doubt he has anything more then knowledge about what EA's plans are or their deals then the rest of us,plus most of what he said is mostly BS from what I gathered anyway.

Well when EA first came aboard around June 2011, I believe it was Trevor Longino that basically said in several interviews, "Sorry folks, we didn't get System Shock or Syndicate." However, that changed towards (again, afaik) the end of year, presumably to promote the new FPS Syndicate.

But yes, that Bombcast really got my hopes up for the EA expansions, and that apparently fell through and made me a sad man. :(

"The other bad news is the EA deal does not include System Shock or Syndicate, but hopefully another deal can be done if EA generates a decent amounts of revenue from this initial offering and sees the value of adding more titles."

Yeah I was dissapointed too but that's what happens when you listen to Paul as because Paul had no clue what he was talking about especially since he had little to no real involvement with the actual deals with GOG, he may of had a hand in pushing certain people to push certain people to get a deal going but outside of that he has jack on what went down.

But as for Syndicate well keep in mind when EA was signed that the deal was only for what 25 or so games? Most of which were Ultima's and Wing Commander(Ultima 1-7 Black Gate and Serpent Isle+ Underworld 1+2= 10 and Wing Commanders 1-3 and Privateer = 4) which from what I gathered was to end with Wing commander 4 then a new deal must of been inked, the current deal adjusted or whatever since we got Metal of Honor, Bioforge, Ultima IX, Worlds of Ultima 1+2 and Lands of Lore 3 shortly after leading to around 30 or so games(31 if you count Ultima 4) it just shows things change, hell for all we know TET could of been mistaken on Syndicate wouldn't be the first time. So yeah it's possible to see Syndicate Wars here unless there is concrete proof from either GOG or someone high up in EA to say otherwise

I wasn't trying to suggest that it wouldn't show up at all, but I'm thinking one shouldn't get his or her hopes up.

To be honest when it comes to any game being on here you shouldn't be getting your hopes up until it's a done deal and even then don't get your hopes up that it will stay.

caitsith01: May not be the right place to ask this question, but is there any word on whether Syndicate Wars is coming to GOG? I would dearly love to see a version of this properly tweaked to work on modern machines... superior to the original IMHO.
Word is, it is available NOW! :D

Good thing for those that got their hopes up!

Huzzah!

Downloading now.

Let's hope they've done a good job of tweaking it to run well on new systems!
