I'm already set to buy this game this weekend. The mod is optional but it would certainly be nice if there is some mod that could enable me to play the game in widescreen and high-res :)

I'm not aware of one - given the game engine, I think that these mods would be difficult to do - I think it runs at 640x480 in the main part, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it uses some funky tricks and dithering to make a 16 colour palette look like it has a lot more colours.
