Both games (GOG Versions) ran first time for me without doing anything...they both opened at their native (low) resolutions...

But if you want a treat, and a Kate Walker fully antialiased with no jagged edges, follow the 4k instructions denoted here...

https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Syberia

I run at 4k but you can pick the resolution you want inside DGVoodoo

Using DGVoodoo it's so easy to set up and it runs beautifully. 3900X/x570 Aorus Master/6900XT but even if you don't have a 4k monitor, you can choose your resolution and this game should run fine at a higher res on even a low-to-mid-range GPU.

What a difference. Be sure and use DGVoodoo to set 8x MSAA when setting it up--and turn it off in the game as it's fairly wonky in the game, but Kate and all of the NPCs appear perfectly without a single jagged edge! Also, be sure and set brightness and contrast and gamma inside DG Voodoo to 100% or "Norm."

Have fun!
I like DGVoodoo too even if I have not used it with Syberia.

Interesting you set such high MSAA even you have a 4k display, which typically also have small pixel size so AA is not nearly as necessary as on lower resolutions. But, you do have the GPU power to run it so why not if you can discern a difference.

In Syberia 1, Kate is the only thing that's AA'ed...;) She's the only thing that is rendered in D3d. Everything else is in the scenes is 2d and doesn't require or use FSAA. The backgrounds look as good at 1080P as they do at 4k, but Kate benefits a lot from the resolution and the FSAA. The 8x MSAA doesn't affect the frame rate at all, thankfully, as she is the only thing AA'ed. Difference between Kate AA'ed and not is night and day. When you turn off the AA, she becomes jaggy, even at 4k. Syberia 2 is basically the same, but Syberia 3 and of course the last one, are 3d games, so pretty much all of those scenes can benefit from 'AA and/or 4k.

Oh, interesting. Thanks for the lesson. I played on an old potato with a low resolution screen so never even thought of trying any high settings. The 2D scenes are prettily drawn.
dgVooodoo worked like a charm - thank you! :) Just had to set the Fullscreen scaling mode to CENTERED to get the correct aspect ratio. I HATE 4:3 games getting stretched to 16:9 - frankly, this is more of a reason to use dgVoodoo than the resolution itself IMHO - I don't even get how can GOG ship any game as "modern hardware ready" when it starts up distorted (AKA unplayable for me).

Hallo!
