I'm reinstalling it now, because I really want to play it, but before I was having issues with saving the game... I got the auto-save icon every once in a while, but every time I went back to the title screen or exited the game I had no option to restart from where I left off... all I could do was start a new game every single time. Is this normal? If so, what good does having an auto-save system does me?

I was wondering whether this happen because I set the config.txt to Read only, after I changed the "locale" to "locale en-US" (I abhor having to play games in Portuguese, especially since they're usually in the horrible Brazillian Portuguese). If my only chance to play this awesome game with a save function is to play it in PT-BR, then, so be it, but I would very much prefer to be able to save AND play the game in English...

If anyone could shed some light on the matter, It'd be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :D

Save file should be here - %APPDATA%/capy/SuperTimeForce/save.dat (where %APPDATA% refers to Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming). Check if this file is here and if it's not set to Read only too.
The save file is there, not set to read only, but the game just doesn't save.

Do you have to kill the first boss for it to save and continue from there? Because that's still a fair bit of gaming just to see if this is working or not...

Whatever I do, the Save Clear Data option is always greyed out, so, I'm assuming it's not saving...

I'm reinstalling it again without the patch, to see if it does anything... :/

I really want to play this game, but not like this.

EDIT: Tried playing the unpatched game and it's still the same. The game creates a save file but never seems to access it... every time I press Play or whatever (trying this thing in Brazillian Portuguese, so "Jogar") it just starts a new game, doesn't give me any slot for me to continue where I left off... I might just submit a ticket to GOG support.

I have same problem. Save Clear Option is greyed out and game doesn't save my progress. Ive installed it with and without patch and tried run as administrator. Playd all the way to the part where you can choose new location and even past that. It just wont save and I have to start all over from training every time I want to play again.
A small update on this issue, as I wait for GOG support to get in touch:

After meddling a bit with registry keys for the game, executable permissions, a full uninstall (using an uninstall tool that cleared all remaining system files), installing the game on another computer -- after a much needed driver update --, in which it ran, and copy-pasting the AppData\Roaming files into this computer, what eventually worked was this: I created a new User account, and the game has been running fine. I probably won't use that account for anything else than to play Super Time Force Ultra, but, hey!, at least it's saving properly.

I'm also not messing with the config file again, playing this game in Brazillian Portuguese really sucks, but I'm afraid it'll screw up the game again.

Thank you for your update. Played game using Guest account and now it saves just fine. Finally I can enjoy this great game.

Hmm, might be a problem with your username, like if you have non-English characters in it or it's too long. ;)

Yeah, I tried so many things, thought I might as well try that one as well, as my name has a non-English character in it and I was using it as my username.

And, sorry, mate, but I'm not marking any of your two replies as the solution to my problem, because... well, they aren't. At first you just mentioned where the saves are stored, and then you basically said the same thing I had just concluded myself. After I said so in this same thread.

I've seen you doing this, I'm afraid... I think you're genuinely trying to help people, but it often looks like you're only after the rep you get when you get your answers marked as solution. You weren't helpful in the least, both times you basically stated the obvious... I can google, too, and I make sure to read any other tech issue related thread on these forums whenever I'm having problems with my GOG games. If I created a thread to solve a problem, trust me when I say that I've been trying all I can to address the issue, and I need more specific and specialized help.

Nothing against you, honestly, like I said, in my opinion you are honestly trying to help people, but make sure you do so with a bit more insight and knowledge of the issue yourself, because anyone can google and get the same answers you give -- or probably better.

I do not care if you mark my post as solution. ;)
As you said, I'm only trying to help, it doesn't matter if you mark the thread as "question / problem" or not. You can check my posts in any subforum and you will see then I'm not posting only in these types of threads. ;)
Updating this thread to let you know I've received an e-mail from GOG support, but they weren't particularly helpful with this issue.

Still, if any moderators could mark this one as solved, I'd appreciate it. The problem was that you can't have the game installed on a Windows user account that has non-English characters and/or is too long, or the game won't be able to access its own save file.

Cheers.
So, still regarding this issue, does anyone know how to redirect the save file path and config file path to those that I've created within the new user account, so I don't have to keep switching accounts every time I want to play this game? What I mean is: is it possible to start the game using the other account's configs and paths? Because it's a bit annoying having to switch accounts just because of this one game...

Thanks in advance!
