I was kinda curious if there is gonna be a chance that Agony will also be released here?
Seeing as GOG rejected it during its initial launch.

Is there also any information it will be an uncensored release and no forced censorship in the GOG version?

I've read in the steam forums for the succubus game, that there is some kind of double release planned on gog: one censored version and one uncensored.
The steam version will give you access to somekind of "uncut" update or something.

But I couldnt find a dev or mod in the forums so I cant say if this is true.

As for the agony game:
I dont know but would like to see it here, too.
Even if I have the steam version(both to be precise) Im not much of a steam fan and rarely turn Greedy-Gabes world on.
I havent even made it to the half of agony because of that ^^

Thanks for the information. Seeing as you're from Germany I get a feeling your version will get censored sadly.

Kinda tired of all this censorship these days, I'm even surprised that GOG is releasing the game here after rejecting Agony years ago. Kinda hope this gives a chance for a release of the game HATRED but i doubt that'll happen.

I'm not very pro-steam either, but GOG isn't really the savior of what could be called freedom to create and express yourself. They pretty "woke" if you look at what they have been releasing.

Yes, I guess I will only see the cutted version of the game.
Im not happy about it either and I miss the days in which you could games on a store if you are old enough for them.
Washed away with the invasion of online sale plattforms. Sadly.

And going the pirate way isnt an option to me. Especially with titles from a small dev studio like madmind.
Such things I cant morally do.

I tried contacting Madmind studio and get some information on it, but I didn't get any reply. Way back when Agony was refused they were open about why it was refused but the 2nd time they didn't state it and just said we needed to keep asking to get a release over here.

These kinda titles are interesting for the most part because everything is so politically correct and stale these days. Succubus/Agony is just a side of human nature most people pretend isn't these "Lust" which makes them so entertaining. (Kinda hope with this release we might get Lust from beyond.)

Germany is puzzling these days. It feels like Germany has gone more mentally insane now than during WW2 going for self destruction with feel good policies which will implode in the long run.

You can blame the shops as well. It's not like the laws forbid you buying this kind of stuff, in fact if there was a physical DVD version of the game you can just walk into an actual shop and buy one. The issue is that the laws require an actual authentication for online services on 18+ stuff that requires more than just claiming that you're an adult by pressing on a button.

The requirements that these authentication methods need to satisfy are so complex and bothersome that neither the online shops nor the customers actually want to use it, so the online shops prefer to lock you out, because it is the easier and cheaper solution. However, there are already solutions that effectively combine the authentication with instant bank transfer services like Giropay, where your bank confirms your age to the shop just like they confirm that the bank transfer was actually triggered - but it's just not supported, even though the shops do support Giropay as a payment method (I'm looking at you, GOG & Steam).

I know that you are allowed to release certain Taboo content in Germany ( Like Swastikas) and that the process is tiresome for even publishers. I just think it is total bullshit seeing as all germans have to do is cross the border or buy a different region version and you get an uncensored one.

I think actual shops just don't wanna do it because of public perception when a certain store chain might release certain questionable content. In The U.S for instance it was always hard to sell Japanese dub-only games or anime series so most would dub the content even if it is bad English dub, They basically looked at sales projection in the long run.

Overall, I think Germany needs to stop living in the past and move on. Most crime most likely in Germany isn't related to games or violent movies but most likely a certain religion.

Nope, not at all - especially concerning sexual content, you'll just get a 18+ rating and be done with it. You'd need some really gory or otherwise cruel stuff to get problems, most publishers only cut content because a lower age rating means more sales, so they start haggling - which is indeed a slow and tiresome process. In fact, the German rating is pretty lax about nudity, if you keep the explicit sexual content low you can easily get a lower age rating than 18+. As far as Agony Unrated is concerned, I don't see any problems with the sexual content, they'd rather complain about the other more cruel stuff that was cut out in the original game - and even then they're still far away from getting into the index of restricted and forbidden games. The restricted index would still allow the game to be sold, but it is forbidden to advertise it and you'd have to explicitly ask for it in a store, which is why they haven't been sold in online shops even before the whole online authentication issue.

It is actually a common practice to not get your game rated and just default to 18+ if the publisher knows that they don't get a lower rating, anyway. The only advantage of getting an official 18+ rating is that they can't put the game into the index anymore.

The swatiska was a special case, because over all those years a fundamental decision was missing and nobody wanted to be the one to push the issue in a court - until recently. Ironically, this decision was about whether video games can be considered to be a piece of art, because the responsible law has an explicit exception for art. Future games will have much less issues with this one.

The authentication issue affects all 18+ games. This includes freely sold games like the last Wolfenstein part (even the original censored German version). It's just less likely that somebody will try to enforce it with these ones.

I wouldn't say it is true that they only censor games because of ratings seeing as The last of Us for ps3 was censored here in the west overall because of Germany's censorship laws and that had nothing to do with the rating. The same goes for if I recall it was God of War being toned down for all of Europe.

All this censorship was mostly done because of Germany's stupid laws.

Most of the examples can be found on the youtube channel: "Censored Gaming"
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-08-05-naughty-dog-confirms-european-version-of-the-last-of-us-censored

Germany changed its Swastika laws a few years ago but it still is a lengthy process to get your game released with them,

Germany is like Steam's curation team, Very unclear on what it actually wants.

Also, The PC ratings are easier to get around than console releases, hence why games like HATRED were able to release on it while Consoles required more rules to walk through. If I recall you can unpatched censored games on PC through DLC while on a console you aren't allowed to do that.

The biggest reason they downgrade the German version is the rejection by the USK seeing as you have to pay for each game getting rated for different platforms. There is an extra cost if it gets rejected and needs to get resubmitted. The whole reason console patches are slower or might never get updated is because even patches need to go through Q&A.

I feel bad for the people of Germany who were raised to believe a big lie. Your ancestors did nothing wrong in WWII. Your history books are written by the victors who (newsflash) were really the bad guys. . One day you'll know the truth that's been kept from you.

I used to enjoy WWII games where I got to shoot "nazis"a lot but after realizing the truth all those games are nothing but anti-German propaganda to drill into your heads the myth of "6 million". Even my favorite film 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' leaves a bitter taste in my mouth now.

Start asking questions like David Cole and David Irving did and start educating other Germans with what you find.

Which truth if I may ask?
I want to know, if the game does not have the ability to turn off censorship, I will not buy the game here, is it better to buy it in Steam?

I fear it will release censored with a patch offered as DLC or you get an option to download from their site.

Pretty lame if you ask me. Guess Australia and Germany the new Orwellian hellholes get triggered by these kinda games but not the high number of rapes or murders by people that don't play video games.
There is an uncensored patch on their website for Succubus
