Just throwing this out there for anyone interested in this game or in need of a work around. If you start up the game and have no ambient audio like birds chirping, wind, footsteps, etc. Try restarting the level from the pause menu and that should sort it out as of right now. People keep talking about missing music in the tutorial or the game, but it should be noted that that is faithful to the original.

The original surprisingly lacks much of any ambient music. I know it's weird given how strong the soundtrack is but that is how it was and how it is. A quick youtube search of any og Xbox long play video will sort you out really qucik if you are in denial over this. On that note, I want to add I do not work for Aspyr or who ever all worked on this, or have any affiliation with this game. Just tired of seeing it dumped on over a legitimate bug and ignorance.

Consider this the clarification if you were on the fence due to audio complaints. I don't know if they will ever address this bug in a patch. I hope they do.

With all due respect, I'm not convinced by the OP. I haven't seen any people who allege that all of the music is intact rebut specific claims that it isn't with concrete details.

For example, one guy who said the music has been cut, he claims that there should be a song play when the zombie visits a diner, like there was in the original version, but isn't in this new version, according to what he said.

So is that true or untrue? Have you visited the diner and checked it for yourself? I've never seen anyone address that point in a convincing way.

Likewise, I've heard that music was also cut off of the title screen from many different people, and I've never seen any advocates for this game address that point in a sensible way either. Why, exactly, was that music cut? (unless many people are lying about that?).

And if it was indeed, then how are you advocates 100% sure that there were no other cuts as well? Did you test this scientifically by re-playing through each section of the game and comparing as you go, on a 1:1 basis, between the original and the new version, back to back?

If not...and if instead, these assertions that no music has been cut are all solely based on memory...then they are highly subjective & unreliable statements.

Diner scene--jukebox music does not play in remastered version:
* Xbox (2005)--jukebox music is present: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrPlM8tKnRE&t=197
* PC (2005)--jukebox music is present: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Y4FD0IUBQ

* PS5 (2021 remaster)--no jukebox music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSkyreo7a-E&t=88
* Switch (2021 remaster)--no jukebox music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0vqrCr5bI0&t=7292

Sound effects and dialogue missing spatialisation and other DSP effects (also, scanline video shader is missing):
* Xbox (2005): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXC4mPmFXQM&t=830
* PS5 (2021 remaster): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d45JC2Q17Jg&t=662
More spatialisation missing (very noticeable difference) @ 15:05 / 11:48

Also, audio positioning in cutscenes was ruined:
* Xbox (2005)--dialogue pans correctly (n.b. L/R channels are swapped in this recording): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXC4mPmFXQM&t=346
* PS5 (2021 remaster)--no positioning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d45JC2Q17Jg&t=275

Personally, I would suggest seeking out an obsoleted copy of the 2005 PC release, and supplementing it with OpenALSoft and thirteenag's widescreen fix (oh, and rename stubbs.exe to codsp.exe or similar, because Microsoft). e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj210eH1qY4

I checked and I can confirm right from the title screen alone that music was cut. On my XBox, it loops through all the unique vocal covers randomly. On this version, it plays a single non-vocal "beach" style song over and over again.

Wow, and to think I contacted Aspys for a digital copy with pictures of my PHYSICAL copy and they gave me a Steam key, for FREE..

Sad, really sad that no one bug reported this to possibly get a fix, as the game's been re-released so long now I doubt it will be patched..

I just had too many games i was busy with and I didn't play test my free copy..

Many thanks to those who found out the truth.

This is truly sad.
Of course music has been cut. The entire soundtrack was a bunch of 50's covers on license and Aspyr did not renew the license.

The OP is talking out of his prison wallet.
