This game was released at 2005 or 2006 as I remember
I'd also like to know if there are any differences or improvements from the original game. I loved the Xbox version, but I was unable to get it on PC because it was apparently so buggy that Steam removed it. I almost pre-ordered the GOG version as soon as I saw it today, but I need to know if they have fixed the bugs.
According to the PR, nope

"For the authentic 2005 Stubbs experience, we’ve brought the game back exactly the same as it was back then. Same gameplay, same graphics, same UI. Okay, we also added modern resolution support, improved controls and key bindings on modern controllers, and nifty new Trophies. But other than that, it’s the same!"

Well, it wasn't "buggy", but it uses an API which is no longer available in Windows 10 (well, there is a cool software emulator, but the original hardware access is gone) and requires a unusual graphic driver setting which has to be set with a tweaking tool. One can avoid that by renaming stubb's exexutable to codsp.exe. The nvidia drivers than activates that setting.

The new version is supposed to work with new APIs, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore.
I dusted off my original copy for the Xbox and plan on making comparisons to the new vs old. I do remember I died a ton in the tank level and more than a few times to the Hillbilly Chainsaw guys.
I really hope this looks incredible on 1440p screens and has an ultra high graphics setting that is optimized. The original looked so good back then.

I'm guessing it's been ~8 years since I played the game but I'm pretty sure there was one level (or a checkpoint) I had to cheat to get through because I was so low on health I kept dying right at the start.
Many on Steam are reporting crashes, but the original wasn't the most stable game.

It also only runs on 10, which wasn't mentioned this morning when I pre-ordered it an hour before release.

So I'm a little peeved because I spent an hour troubleshooting only to find out I wasn't missing files like it said I was, I was missing an entirely different operating system. When I came back to the page an hour ago to request a refund, the requirements had been changed to Windows 10 only and 8 gigs of ram..

GOG always is good about putting what I paid for a game into my GOG wallet but this time I'm requesting a straight refund, there just aren't any other games I want to get anytime soon.
Yes, the game is for Windows 10 only, but i was able to run it in Windows 7 using DXVK. So a workaround is possible.

Other differences :
The game resolution if fixed, matching the desktop res. The option was available in the old game but removed in the new.
The menu music was changed. It was mr.Sandman (or lollipop, don't remember well) in the old game and a generic rock music in the new.

On the good side, subtitles has been added and there is an option to multiply the internal resolution (up to 400x).

I'm still early in the game, so i don't know if there are others differences.

Is the game bugged? I've been comparing ps4 gameplay to original xbox gameplay and not noticing any differences. Yet people are mass upvoting a comment saying it's gone and you are saying it's gone too. Maybe go watch real gameplay for the xbox version, I think you guys are turning people off this game and have no idea what you are talking about. All the talk about music missing seems to based on either fud or bad memories because the og xbox game is sparse with music and is exactly the same as this version.

I will elaborate a bit on this.

I own this game on steam and was unsure if i could still get it to run and was thinking about buying the remaster.
I reinstalled it on steam and got it to run with a few tweaks without problems.
Yesterday there was a 673 MB patch and it got updated to the new version.
The Menu music is gone now and i remember that it was used in the later stages of the game so i don't see a reason to keep it there but remove it from the menu but i don't know for sure
I have both installation of the game, old and new. The menu music is gone for sure.
Another difference : The new game can't go in exclusive fullscreen, only borderless.

Truly a lazy work by the developers.

How did you keep the old installation ?
Don't buy it

first -- all the cool music is gone, gone, gone.

second -- the option to remove film noise doesn't work

third-- you CAN NOT set the resolution, and no full screen

---- there are some visual MINOR improvements, minor!

...but, this is VERY disappointing.... what were they thinking ?

a step down for sure
