Definitely need to continue to spotlight the mods that have manifested thus far for the GoG lineup...definitely.
Wow! It's a very great idea! Thank you, GOG :)
I definitely like the idea...and am now considering the Stronghold games.
Excellent idea. Not only to highlight interesting and fun mods, but also to persuade us goggers to pick up games we may have been on the fence about
Even I am possibly considering getting the stronghold series now being such a LoTR fan =)

I'm in the exact same situation. Good mods are a huge added value for a game, and since they're free it only costs you guys a bit of time to write that spotlight page. I know the forums dedicated to each game often mention which mods are available and what they do, but personally I only check them after I bought the game... so currently they dont play any role in my choice to buy or not.
Edit -
It may be a good idea to highlight the mod a bit more on the game page, I'd have missed the current sentence if i didnt know it was there. And maybe write a word or two about the mod on that page instead of just saying that there's a fan-made mod.

Vandal: Let us know what you think, folks! If you'd like to see more of this sort of content, you need to tell us... or else our bosses are all like, "hey you, marketing guys, shouldn't you be out there putting stickers up around town instead of writing about mods?" Please, they'll whip us.

Funny guy. :)
Definitely love it! More more more!
Also, as a long-term plan, might be cool to integrate these into each game's page, as in, click a tab or something like that and it goes to the mods page for the game, and from there you can preview each of the best, with the rest in the forums. Just throwing ideas out there -- maybe its best as is. :)
(Also, if it's possible to utilize the picture tool thing for the editorials as are on the gamecards, that would make these much easier to check out.)
Okay I'm done. :)
Great idea, GOG guys and gals! Looking forward to more mod spotlights in the future. Please keep this idea going, guys!
Eduke32 for Duke Nukem 3D might be a good idea for next "the best mods for Good Old Games" issue ;)
*ploink* (i.e. if I had just read the thread in more detail ... someone else already wrote what I was saying).

Its a great idea to highlight the mods for games, some of the most extensive mods made can really change gameplay a lot (some of the Unreal tourment and its sequal mods often made massive).
As an addition would it be possible to get GoG to put up hosting space for these mods? Many of GoGs games are older generation ones and the mods are often housed in few places and are often the early ones on the chopping board when the file hosters start a clean out. It would be very sad to lose these additions, some of which represent many hours of work in creation.
This is a great idea! Please give us more!
Yes, great initiative. Keep this going. And as a lot of others users have suggested you should host them yourselves.
@vandal links to the editorial post are broken and I cannot find it on Google. Can you update the post with the current links?

Thank you!

GOG.com: With this small article we're starting a brand new section of "the best mods for Good Old Games".

In this short reviews we will take a closer look at some of the best, the biggest and the most fun mods that have been created for games that are available in the GOG.com's games catalogue. For the first mod spotlight we decided to look at [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/stronghold]Stronghold and The Lord of the Rings™ mod. Jump in and check out our testers' (Skreczi and Paczyk) opinions on this fan modification. We'll try to post similar mod spotlights from time to time, so if you have any comments or recommendations let us know!
