Is a high definition remastered version of Strike Commander going to be available in the future?
Seems unlikely to me. Combat flight sims are only a niche genre these days, and as far as I know all rights to the game lie with EA. And EA is neither known for doing niche things or re-releasing stuff that requires any real work.

So the only thing for Strike Commander to get a remaster I see would be i.e. Chris Roberts using some of the millions his company crowdfunded for Star Citizen buying it all from EA and doing it as a passion project. But I don't know if he even talked about Strike Commander in recent years, and he probably would announce something like that long before the remaster would be released.

It certainly would be nice, but it's all rather unlikely in my opinion, as it is for many many old games (including practically the whole rest of the back catalogue of Origin Systems).

Edit: Oh and a fan HD remaster would probably be hard too, because Strike Commander has a mostly sprite based engine. Which is harder to get more resolution to then a 3D engine.

Strike Commander had a full 3D engine, in fact it was stupidly buggy and heavy to run on the PCs of the time (hell, it's still buggy now, I never finished the game because it tended to crash regularly on a mission for some reason).
The sprites are used for cutscenes and can easily be upscaled in all their pixelated glory.

Hmm ok, I've must have misremembered then, it's been ages since I've played SC, and I've never played it all that much. I thought it was much closer to Wing Commander 2 then 3, but apparently I was wrong.

Well, the out of game graphics are incredibly similar to Wing Commander 2, but the in-game engine was the first iteration of the WC3 engine.

This was posted here somwhere a few years ago already, so maybe you can contact the developer and see how things are standing.
It would be amazing... instead for the audio? The best setup?
