dunno why but since the last update
GoG Galaxy does not seem to be tracking my Stellaris play time anymore

\i'm wondering if the problem has to do with the new launcher
that came with the new update for Stellaris

anyway just thought i would put this out there
not that i am overly concerned about it just pointing out something that seems not to work

Note: and its only normal Galaxy not the 2.0 beta
gog is having issues with their server sync and yes its galaxy 2 as well mate

Do you have Stellaris installed via Steam, as well? I have the same problem, and I recently got Stellaris and various DLC through GOG, but also have the base game on Steam.

GOG 2.0 isn't tracking playtime for the GOG version, but still shows time/achievements for the Steam version. Oddly, this seems to be the only game having trouble in GOG - the others I have continue to track time, and show up as "recently played", but the GOG version of Stellaris does not.

I'm certain I'm launching the GOG version: it has the DLC. It's only a mild annoyance, but a problem that would be nice to see fixed.

this was an old post and the issue with gog servers was fixed

your post has two issues;
1. you can Not install both Galaxy and Steam Stellaris on the same system... they fight and which ever one you installed last is what you are in fact playing

2. Paradox released what they called V2 of their Stellaris launcher back in about Nov and that is what causes Galaxy [1 or 2] to stop tracking time played on Stellaris unless you use the work around which is to allow the launcher to start the game up to the sellect new game, load or multiplayer then go back to Galaxy and re-press the play buttion again

I tried the workaround with no success. After I quit the Stellaris, Galaxy is trying to load some data (in the Stellaris page of Galaxy) and fails. I get no update in the playtime tracking.
it is working fine at my end... are you using Galaxy 1 or 2 and what was trying to sync?

I guess the sync error was the issue because now (after a reboot), Galaxy has updated my playtime. Like I had played a few minutes ago, and it was actually yesterday but anyway, it works thanks!
I’ve been having this problem to.

For me the problem is not just with this game but with any Paradox game that uses the new front end “dowser.exe”.
It stops the tracking of time played and Trophies in GOG Galaxy.

Fortunately for the time tracking it is quite a simple solution:

You can set up an “Additional Executable” in Galaxy to point to the actual game exe
E.G. stellaris.exe and set it as the default when you press the Play button.

Galaxy will then recognise that you are playing the game and track the time played.
Unfortunately Galaxy still does not track the Trophies, However they are tracked by Paradox and do pop when you get them (You can see them when you log into Paradox).

Hope this helps some people who are having this problem.

I did this and it's indeed tracking playtime now, but Galaxy seems to keep failing cloud sync every time I close the game, even if the game on GOG does not have this feature. Wtf?
just as fyi the {dick} patch 3 fixed the issue of Galaxy not tracking game time so the old work arounds are no longer needed
