I have been playing for several hours and reached a point where i have no objectives. where do i go, and who do i talk to to continue the story?
If you completed the FTL Drive mission, you are now in sandbox mode until I get more story in the game. You can travel across the universe taking missions from faction agents on stations, smuggle, trade, develop your crew, gather faction tokens and purchase faction armor, scan planets for locations to explore, mine, use drones to earn income, board ships, purchase better ships etc.

I'm wrapping up the next content patch now and will be turning to more story content after the new year.

ok, will you be fixing how beacons work? they currently dont work for me. im wondering if this is a glitch. also, the trade net isnt working. i got as far as rodger crayson giving me access to black market trades, but nothing shows up in trade net.
Beacons work - at least I haven't had any reports of them not working. First, buy beacons from the ship equipment merchant.

You can place them two ways.

1) Target a star system while in FTL space, fly to the system, and then use the beacon icon that is displayed to set one in that system. You need to be close enough to see the beacon icon appear.

2) Enter any system, fly to a jump point, and place a beacon.

The systems need to have orbiting stations to start adding their wares to the trade net. The more beacons you place, the larger your trade net will be (more items to buy and sell). Trade goods will not show up until you place beacons in at least one system other than Achmedius.

Let me know if that helps.

In order for the trade-net to function, you must have placed at least one beacon in a system outside of Achmedius, so if you have been unable to place a beacon, the fact that the trade-net doesn't work is a direct result of that.

To be clear, you're saying that you HAVE done all of the following:

1) Purchased beacons from one of the ship equipment vendors
2) Completed the FTL mission and installed the FTL drive into your ship.
3) Entered FTL space and gone to some star system other than Achmedius.
4) Attempted to place a beacon either by entering the new system and flying to a nearby jump point or by placing it near the star while still in FTL space.

Correct?

To be sure, please take a look at the following image: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/stellartactics_gamepedia_en/images/1/10/Wiki_beacons.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20191112234336&format=original

The blue icon underneath the star system information screen is what you use to activate the FTL drive and enter FTL space, while the purple icon in the lower left corner is used to either drop a beacon or activate a translocator device depending on whether you're in FTL space or normal space (in normal space, if you don't have a beacon in a star system, you'll be offered that option when you activate the translocator - you can see it in the image I linked)

Okay, check out the attached file instead.

Thanks for the saves. I loaded them up and everything is working as intended. What I did:

1) I loaded your latest save that was near the portal in the facility in Achmedius.
2) I left to space.
3) I checked that you had beacons – you do.
4) I entered FTL space using the FTL icon.
5) I flew to the nearest star system that had orbiting stations – Aanaw.
6) When I was close to Aanaw, the purple Beacons icon was displayed in the lower left of the screen. I clicked the icon.
7) The beacon window opened and I clicked the place beacon button.
8) A beacon was placed.
9) I opened up the log screen [L] and opened the trade net.
10) I then sorted the list on the left by star systems with beacons ( the last sorting icon in the upper left - the icon that looks like a space station)
11) All available trade items were displayed including contraband items available in the selected systems. In this case, there are only two systems – Achmedius and Aanaw. More systems with beacons would provide even more trade opportunities.

In general, there shouldn't be any game-breaking bugs at this time. Occasionally I do get a very rare edge case that needs to be resolved – but not often. In this case, trade data is not displayed in the trade-net until you leave Achmedius and place a beacon in a system with orbital stations. That is working as intended.

There is a lot of good info in the in-game guide (press "H" and then select guide at the top of the window) and on the Stellar Tactics wiki.

Oops. Yes, that was one important piece of information I had forgotten. In order for the trade net to work, you must have beacons in at least two star systems that have orbital stations. Achmedius is already set up with one, so you only need to find one more to begin trading on the trade-net (obviously, in the words of Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor, "More is better").

In the universe map, when you point at a star, there are two important pieces of information that will help you with the trade net

1) If the name of the star ends with an asterisk (e.g. Achmedius* ) then you already have a beacon there.
2) If the last line in the pop-up box is "Station", there are orbital stations in that system, and it counts towards the trade net. If not, that doesn't mean there aren't stations in that system... but trade stations that are planet-side do NOT count towards the trade net. Look for ones marked "Station".

ok i found the button. it was a matter of human error. im an idiot
Happy to help with that. I think I need to look at the help for that topic in the in-game manual and make sure the information is clear. Reading it, I can see that it could be better written with a few more screenshots.
