I saved the config info into notepad and saved it as Titanic.dxw, then pasted the file into the game's folder. No effect.

I disabled my PC's internet virus software. No effect.

I disabled UAC. No effect.

If I click anywhere on the screen other than the TV, the view moves to the new position and then the pointer is gone. I don't see myself move between areas, its an instant switch between the starting image and the new image. If I click on the TV, the pointer remains, but at that point even holding down a key doesn't help with the flickering. And any subsequent click to try and move away from the TV vanishes the pointer.

Of course it did not. You have to import the file as I said in my post.
To import it please copy the file anywhere start the dxwnd program and chose "File" + "Import" then browse to the config file.

That is unfortunate but was still woth a try.

Then it is definitely a problem with the video codec because normally you should see videos when you transition from one aera to another. I will see if I can find a solution for this.

I must be doing something wrong. I created a file in notepad, which I saved as Titanic.dxw. But when I try to import it in dxwnd program, the file doesn't show up, even though I can see its there when I go to the Titanic game folder.

EDIT: Something different happened. I opened the game in the DXW program using the file I set up before. The mouse button was completely stable. It let me turn on the TV! But no video played when I tried to move between channels, the monitor just changed to a black rectangle. I can turn the TV back off again. I was even able to move back away from the TV again. But when I moved to another part of the room (no animation again, just instant change of image) the pointer vanished.

So that's a slight improvement, though still unplayable.

I am not quite sure how you managed to use the file if you weren't able to import it. Anyhow that does not matter. It seems that the wrapper does work for you after all and you probably did something wrong with the settings before. As far as I can see the "only" problem still existing for you is the video codec used to play movies and animations in the game. The pointer in your case does not seem to vanish because of the drawing of the game but because of a not correct functioning video codec. I will search the net a bit and see if I can offer a possible fix.

If it helps you, here's what the TV looks like when I switch it on.

if I switch it off again, the black rectangle vanishes and goes back to the image of the monitor switched off.

I looked at it and searched the net. Your problem (black square where the video should be) is well known. I found a user who managed to fix it by replacing the video codec and he used a different version than the one I posted earlier. I found the DLL he used and uploaded it to my google drive account. Download it here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B45YJj6bhfxaTE9CZHM4NzJwdDQ/view?usp=sharing

and copy the file into your game directory replacing the original file (you might as well rename the original file before doing so to keep it in case of emergency). I am quite sure that all you need to do is find a ICCVID.DLL version which is working on your system.

Since you mentioned before that you had problems downloading my config file (which I also uploaded to my drive account) let me know if you have problems downloading the file and what issues you are experiencing. Normally there should not be a problem downloading the file.

I downloaded the file fine. I renamed the original file and pasted the new file into the games folder.

Sadly it has no effect. The black square still remains when the TV is switched on :(

That is unfortunate. I will search further but I am slowly going out of options - sorry. I've looked at all your postings so I know you have a GTX560 Win7 and the game starts with the DXWrapper but won't show you any videos and is crashing after clicking at the TV. You have tried to disable antivirus and UAC and you have also tried to update drivers, directX ect. I am still quite sure that the problem lies within an incompatibility with your GPU and the used cinepak video codec but so far you have tried three different versions of it without any success. I will let you know if I find another possible fix.

Edit: Could you please check all your compatibility settings for st.exe and say what is checked there? It would also be great if you could make a screenshot of your Starship Titanic Folder so I can compare the files (dates/size) contained in it with my own.

Actually there are two issues: one being that the mouse pointer is flickering/does not show and the other being that videos are not shown properly (black square only). If you are experiencing the fisrt issue try the wrapper I posted here it does seem to help some people with this issue. Unfortunately I was not able to find a fix for the second issue though.

I also have the "game freezes after one screen and no videos are shown" problem. My specs:

i7-5930K
32GB RAM
NVidia 980
Windows 10

Haven't tried much to fix it yet, but given the fact that other people are having the same issue with no luck I kind of figure I won't either.
Everybody who is experiencing issues: please report them asap to gog support so they see that this is not an issue for one or two but for several people.
I keep checking back every few days hoping for an update from GoG, but so far nothing :(

I wonder how many people are having problems running the game like this. Surely there must be SOMETHING they can do to fix it?

I will also write another mail to support because obviously this issue affects many people and even IF my wrapper workaround is working it's not a permanent solution and should not be considered as one.

Me too. So far nothing I've tried has made any difference, and GOG support seems to be out of ideas. The last response I got finished off by offering a refund, but I declined based on the hope that something can be worked out by them or someone on the forums.
