Great, can't wait to try it!
Maybe GOG should implement this into Starship Titanic since there still are several display issues with it which they could not eliminate completely i the version they offer now (they offered me a refund then and I used dgVodoo as workaround).

It would certainly be feasible for them. Barely a day after the 2.0 release, Riven was updated to use ScummVM. So we can remain hopeful that Starship Titanic could likewise be updated to use it in the near future.

Sounds good. I will point them to this to make sure they know.
Does this include running ScummVM on a Mac and then using the Startship Titanic game (Windows only, 2.0.0.4) from GOG? What about using ScummVM within a wine wrapper?

I've tried the Mac version of ScummVM, and I've also tried the Windows version of ScummVM within a WINE wrapper (via Wineskin). For both I had to use the WINE wrapper to install the game initially. I'm using version 2.0.0.1 with Sparkle for macos, and just 2.0.0 for Windows, according to the downloaded files names. I have macos 10.13.2, including the supplemental update, too. And with Wineskin Winery 1.7, made a wrapper with Wineskin 2.6.2 and engine WS9Wine2.22

For the Mac version of ScummVM I added the game by choosing its folder within the wrapper. For the Windows version of ScummVM I installed it within the wrapper and chose its executable to launch for the wrapper, then when running it I added the game by choosing its folder within the same wrapper.

Either way it seems to work rather well (perhaps the same?), but also crash for the same type of event, that of chatting with bots. It's because it started crashing in the Mac version of ScummVM that I bothered to try to use the Windows version of ScummVM within the wrapper. However, it still sometimes crashed when chatting with bots.

It seems to not matter what's being said or which bot, but always immediately when pressing return to make a statement. Upon replay, making the same statement to the same bot doesn't cause a crash, but eventually a different statement might. Chatting with the bots in the lobby at the beginning seems to be the easiest way to test it out, however it has happened elsewhere.

Doesn't seem to be any auto-saving either… I haven't ever played Starship Titanic before and am not using a walkthrough. I haven't gotten very far, just walked everywhere I could in the beginning, chatted with bots, and picked up a few items. Because it crashes and hasn't auto-saved, I've had start over from the very beginning pretty much every time.

One time I did save very early on, just before talking with Krage after checking in at the reception desk. Not long afterwards a crash eventually occurred in that conversation. I tried loading the save and saying the same statement immediately, but it didn't cause problems. Instead it happened later with some other statement but not after the same amount of time. Maybe an exact series of statements would cause the crash? I don't know yet, I need a break for now.

Either should be fine as long as the GOG/PC version is being used.. we don't support the native Mac version of the game. As far as the crash you're describing, I certainly hadn't previously noticed any crash like that when having conversations with the bots. Maybe it's a system specific problem, considering most of the testing was done on PCs. If you can replicate the crash, we'd be thankful if you could post a bug on bugs.scummvm.org with all the details of your system, language, the problem, and an attached savegame, so we can look into fixing the problem.
Amazing job, really happy this in now officially part of ScummVM.
i was getting black screens for some of the stuff, but i found a solution, thank criminy. i found a forum where a guy recomended downloading a .DLL and placing it directly into the game folder itself, and it worked like a bloomin dream. heres a link to the forum
adventuregamers.com/archive/forums/hint-requests-technical-problems/15116-starship-titanic-cut-scenes-problem. html
if you dont want to go to the link, it basically says that he downloaded ICCVID.DLL version 1.10.0.6
he had to do a it a bit more higgdley pickledy as he extracted it directly from an older machine, but there are plenty of Dll sites out now, so i found one that had it which was here.
www.dll4free.com/iccvid.dll.html
and on the right of the page theres a box with a green header with four version in it, i clicked the download button on the top one. then opened it in winzip, and extracted just the Dll (there was a read me and a url file in there too, but you dont need those. then i right clicked the starship titanic desktop icon i use to play it, scrolled to 'open location' which took me to its folder, and just stuck it in there, boom bang bing, and bobs ya uncle, it worked like selina kyle worked a corner in year one.
anyway, hope this works for everyone else, ive been trying to get this thing to work for aaaaages, its been sitting on the computer for a couple of years now at least, and i happened to come across this, and its a godsend.
Dreammaster, thank you for all your work to add Starship Titanic support to ScummVM, particularly given the poor performance of the GOG release as-is on modern versions of Windows (I couldn't even get past the introductory sequence before encountering major graphical glitches that prevented further progress). I've looked at some of the code for the ScummVM Starship Titanic engine on github and it looks like quite the undertaking.

For all its flaws, Starship Titanic is a rather unique game (I'm a big fan of the environmental design) and it's nice to have the ability to revisit it after more than twenty years!
If anyone wonders, game works perfect in ScummVM on Linux too.
Just install ScummVM from distro repositories or official site, install Starship Titanic .exe through Wine and add install directory in ScummVM.

You're welcome :). Just an FYI, we're gearing up for our next release on October 9th, which will contain a further few minor bugfixes for Starship Titanic. It'll also be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the original first ScummVM release. What with various new engines and games newly added, not the least of which is AGS integration, it's going to be one heck of a release. \o/
