This problem only occurs with Stars In Shadows. I have around 20 other games installed, and none other cause this issue.

If I double click on the game in my library, then GOG Galaxy stops responding and stays like that indefinitely. The game never launches. If I launch the game through a desktop shortcut or directly from its install folder, then GOG Galaxy becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, but the game launches normally afterwards.

This only started happening after the recent update (which was sometime mid-December if I recall correctly?).

All my GOG games and GOG galaxy are installed in the same place. I'm not using an SSD.

This is very strange. You're on the 1.2.32 version of GOG Galaxy, and the 21704 version of Stars in Shadow? Do you have the Legacies DLC installed?

I'm unable to replicate the issue; but, I can ask the GOG Galaxy team if they're made any changes that might be causing something like this. What version of Windows are you using, and what model is your video card?

Yes I have the latest version of GOG Galaxy, of SiS and the DLC installed as well.

I am running WIndows 7 Professional

My GPU is an AMD Radeon R9 270X Toxic.

My CPU is an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T

My MOBO is an ATI Crosshair IV 890FX

Maybe this is an isolated incident then.
I don't see an answer for this problem and two years later I'm having the same problem. I go to launch and Gog Galaxy freezes up. What do I need to do?

So, I suspect it's probably not the problem behind jhkitchen's bug, but, another GoG user did contact me after the latest patch rolled out with a similar crash-on-launch bug report. In his case, the solution was to go to More->Manage Installation->Verify/Repair.

It's probably pretty rare, but, it does look like there's a chance that GoG Galaxy may accidentally corrupt installs when trying to apply a patch -- so if you're seeing crashes after an update, trying the Verify option may be a good plan.
I had same problem but now I just ignore gog going white screen and message about application not responding, after about 60 sec or more game lunches and evertihing is fine.
I had the same problem and found two exe files in the game folder ("sis64.exe" and "sis.exe"). In GOG Galaxy the file "sis64.exe" was used which did not work for me. I tried also to execute this file directly in the folder, but the game did not start. So I tried "sis.exe" and this works fine.

After I replaced "sis64.exe" by "sis.exe" in the file "goggame-1445170412.info" in the game folder and did a restart of GOG Galaxy the game started without problems.
