Woah, nice work so far. Seeing this, I'd forgotten just how poor the lighting in X-Wing Alliance was. It's nice actually being able to see ships in space properly :D
Any chance of adding Track IR support for head tracking? From what I gather it is pretty easy to add and enhances space games immensely.

The main reason we aren't using any traditional "floating" UI, and instead we are placing all controls and panels on 3D intruments on the cockpit dashboard was precisely to have it ready for VR. I guess Track IR would be a happy subproduct of that.
Wow as a 3d modeller i would so love to create the cockpits to be vr ready (and nice looking)
if you can model the complete cockpits to look like the xwing 2d cockpits (with our additions), then we need to talk ASAP :) Do you use Skype at all? or Facebook?
WANT! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!

Nice to see a fellow 3d modeller wishing to help.
I'm curious about the work you've done so far. Do you have a website of something like that where you show your models? :)

This is a little bit more complicated.

Full story, i WAS a professional 3d artist some years ago, now i am cto of flowline simulation software and model only in my spare time or for friends or my own hobby projects (eg. i started to work on my own xwing vr simulator but hadn't time to finish it).
As i never had the need to make showreels i have not much stuff collected.
But i wil ltry to show some stuff here.

As professional i worked on several movies (see imdb http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1673446/?ref_=nv_sr_1) but with time i moved away from fx to development (as i am a computer engineer originally) and now i am again back to fully coding ( www.flowlines.info )

In my sparetime i do some game dev whenever i have time and designed, developed and helbed building "my own" starship command bridge for a befriended larp group

Attached is also the only image i could easily manage from my first "professional" modelling job, the sword.

You worked on "Tydirium", "Wildfire" and even "(T)raumschiff Surpise"?
That's incredible! :O

That means the classic X-Wing cockpits will be in good hands, if you decide to come aboard. :)

While you're at it, we could REALLY use good cockpits for the Fate of the Galaxy mod for FreeSpace Open. Granted we're more interested in recreating the look in the movies than the 2d cockpits in the Totally Games series, but given the general lack of good footage of most of the cockpits, that could potentially be the same thing. Might not hurt to try and kill two birds with one stone, if we can all agree on the models.

Take a peek here for more information.
The German magazine GameStar has released a report about XWVM:

Nice publicity! Fortunately google translate works really well between English and German.
I really hope that doesn't trigger any Cease & Desist letter from EA or Disney.

Me too. That said, the reaction seems pretty positive, and I noticed that the video now has over 13500 views :O
