Okay so I just had a spectacular mission happening when all of a sudden my X-Wing was destroyed after I had destroyed an Assault Gunboat that was in front of me. What the hell happened?!?!

It's impossible that I ran into the Gunboat, given that I DESTROYED it. My shields were at 200% capacity. I disabled debris in the game menu options. The game won't let me advance if I disable ship collisions. I absolutely REFUSE to put myself a km away from enemies when they explode, give that you can't hit anything from that distance. This isn't the first time it's happened, but it's going to be the last!!!!

The only thing that has ever worked for me has been 'disable star fighter collision' but I can't advance in the game with that engaged! Seriously how do you actually disable lethal debris?!?!
Also how do you eliminate the guard who's lying about you being dead? Given that the game CHEATED, I am not going to accept these lies. Destroyed ships don't magically increase their structural integrity 1000%+ for no reason whatsoever and then magically throw themselves into you for the purpose of ****ing you! This is obviously a defect in the game and was corrected at some point in its development.

Seriously how may I disable lethal debris or advance while disabling starfighter collision, WHICH IS NOT A ****ING CHEAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!

That's a problem with X-wing, you can revive the pilot but you'll lose all your points.
Many reccomend to backup your pilot before every mission, Tie Fighter backs up you pilot files for you by default.
The collisions are FPS based, I suggest you try and lower the cycles a bit but unfortunately the game is still very much mercyless when it comes to collisions, they did make the collision system more permissive in the sequel because even for the time it was a bit too much (that and the permadeath).
If you look at the Darksaber X-wing station website there might be a pilot editor that might allow to restore your pilot without losing points.

I remember the gunboats, shuttles, and transports being notorious for blowing debris into your face if. They're so slow, that it just makes sense to get closer to them while firing for accuracy. TIEs do the same thing, but you're usually further away from them (and don't do as much damage to you).
It happened again!!!

I destroyed a Gunship that was in front of me and then (after it's destroyed) it magically increased its structural integrity and rammed itself into me!!!

Seriously how do you disable this 'magically destroy player after it's destroyed' glitch?!?!?!?!?!?! You can literally run into a TIE bomber and survive if you have 200% shields, yet that exact same ship magically becomes >1000% more durable after it's destroyed and then destroys you!

I am sick of this!!! HOW DO YOU DISABLE LETHAL DEBRIS?!

Open the dosbox config file and drop the CPU cycles.
It's not a matter of structural integrity, collision damage is not capped so if the emulation is too fast it will do a lot more damage than it should.
Besides, one good thing is to just forget about accuracy and keep your distance even if you'll have to "spray and pray" a bit more.
