Hey,

I've just finished Tie Fighter and its expansions, they were fairly difficult but fun.

Now my question is, how is X-wing? I know there are some quality of life features that were introduced in Tie Fighter, which will make it harder, but how much more difficult is X-wing compared to Tie fighter?

Thanks :)

On average, I don't remember it being particularly different in terms of difficulty... the two more recent versions (Collectors CD and Win95) have some revised missions that do address some tough situations from the original floppy version, and other than that it's just what you would expect.

So, while some of the QoL feature you mentioned make Tie Fighter gameplay smoother (better target info, better map, destroyable sub-systems ecc..) you shouldn't have too much problems overall.. also, on the bright side, all the Rebel ships you can control in the game right from Mission 1 are pretty sturdy compared to the first battles in Tie, so you can afford a few more errors

The main difficulty with X-wing is that it doesn't give you as much feedback, you can fly a mission for an hour wondering why it's still not over and only know at the debriefing you failed it.
There is only a music cue for failed missions and doesn't always trigger, in general there is no objective tracking accessible to the player during gameplay and it doesn't help that some briefings are a bit too vague so you get to know exactly what you have to do only by failing a mission and looking at the debriefing.
