I have installed the 1998 version of X-Wing and wonder. Their seems no music and also no radio chat or something. In fact I have problems knowing whats going on since I have no mission updates in flight.

Can you give me some tipps whats wrong?

No idea about the radio.

X-Wing had only very, very limited radio messages. What you're hearing is all there was.

More specifically, there were messages acknowledging orders, when a friendly craft had finished docking, and randomly when a friendly craft destroyed certain enemies. Interactive music in the DOS versions (this is also true for TIE Fighter) served to alert you of some mission developments (chiefly arrival of enemy or friendly craft), but the 1998 versions removed this.
