I love this game and tried replaying it a year ago with an install mod and some other mods/hacks to make it work on Win 7. It worked for the most part but I did have some issues.

So, with the GoG release, I was wondering a few things.

Is the game still locked at 30fps?

Is widescreen native or do you still need to use mods to make it widescreen?

Is anyone still getting slowdowns/low fps in heavy combat areas?

Not that it's needed but, has anyone seen if crossfire works with it?

Thanks.

If any of these are not enabled, does anyone know if GoG plans on making these things possible?

Yes. It's the original release patched to 2.02 and using a custom renderer, read this: http://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_xwing_and_tie_fighter_series/xwa_flight_engine_locked_at_800x600/post15

You have to use XWA Hacker for widescreen.

It's pretty much the same as the original release for me, never had real slowdown though.

Very unlikely, GOG only applies official patches and, if needed, additional compatibility fixes to make the game work on modern systems - but usually nothing more.

Don't count on it. GoG almost never directly writes any patches for the games themselves - the exception being the CD music player wrapper .dll. All other fixes are usually community-made patches, such as the DX10 renderer.
