Yeah I been having trouble with links also in this forums
This doesn't fix the issue for me. It works in 1920x1080 but not 1680x1050.

Yeah, you need a certain amount of rep in order to post links. :)
It's caused by setting a custom resolution with XWA Hacker. With XWA Hacker you can play XWA on a widescreen monitor without any stretching, but the starfield goes haywire. The planets are fine though.

You can reduce the annoyance by setting the starfield to low.

When I set the resolution to 1920x1080 it works fine but I have a 16:10 monitor so this is useless.

1680 x 1050 is working fine for me.

You set earlier that it could be an AMD issue. I use an AMD laptop.

Sry, my fault. :( Yeah, I'm on an Nvidia/Intel machine.
I was having the same problem with the janky starfield, using an AMD 7850.
I also used XWAHacker to get the resolution to 1680x1050, which worked, although the starfield issue remained.

I wasn't able to resolve the starfield issue, but I got around it by installing DTM's Super Backdrops mod from the link below. It replaces all the starfield graphics with new high-res versions, and looks way better anyway. Problem solved!

Download the pack here:

(GOG wont let me post links for some reason)

Nice! Well done :)
The starfield issue is caused by the new renderer, JeremyaFr is working on a fix for this: http://www.xwaupgrade.com/phpBB3008/viewtopic.php?p=147972#p147972
Push.

Here's the update, don't consider this as an official release though since it has to be tested: http://www.xwaupgrade.com/phpBB3008/viewtopic.php?p=147972#p147972
I was able to get widescreen working, but still no luck with the starfield. Any attempt to touch the ddraw.cfg and dddraw.dll has resulted in me having to reinstall the entire program.
JeremyaFr has updated Direct3D 11 via DDraw.dll once again: http://www.xwaupgrade.com/phpBB3008/viewtopic.php?p=148028#p148028
The changes since version 1.2 are:

Fix concourse 3D scale
Fix distorded starfield
Fix distorded map grid
Fix missing parts on concourse screenshots

That doesn't make any sense, it shouldn't be possible to break the entire game by touching those files. What exactly did you do?
