Simple enough question that no doubt has a simple answer. How well does LAN multiplayer work on modern systems?

I have the same question. Been trying to get Xwing VS Tie Fighter to work using EvolveHQ.com (VPN), which is LAN, and still can't get it to work.

Just use Gameranger, create a room and lock it. Have the host set the "Play over the internet" option in-game to off to set it to LAN.

You could also use a private IP address, but its way easier to just use GameRanger.

I would think it would work fine, Just type in the hosts LAN address. (as oppose to the WAN one you normaly use for connecting to hosts away from your private network) No need for GR.
