So when i was younger and i customised the hell out of my pc with all sorts of ludicrous pointers, noises and effects i somehow managed to change my cursor to the exact same one in the X-wing vs Tie Fighter interface. now ill be damned if i can remember how i did it.

now just FYI i am working with the original retail cd's yep ive still got them. i searched the discs and i searched the install location and can i find them? nope! even a file type search for .cur and .ani doesn't work. not like it used to on win95 at least.

I can find a BMP version of the cursor which does make me wonder if i somehow went to the trouble of converting it into a mouse cursor/pointer

is that even possible?
