Hello everyone, I played a lot of X-Wing back in the 90s but I am not sure about one thing anymore: How does the score exactly work. I know it gets reset every time I die. And I gain new points by playing Toure of Duty missions. But can I somehow "regain" my lost points from the missions where I died? It seems that the historical missions doe not grant any points (also not the available ToD missions in that section). Do I really have to restart a Tour to increase the score?

I know that there is the option to copy the pilot file but I actually do not want to do that. Feels like cheating, even if this game can be very cruel.

Edit: And is there even a way to restart a tour? Seems like I am only able to continue a campaign.

X-wing was extremely unfair, the only way to keep your points is to manually backup you pilot file after every succesful mission, otherwise they are lost forever and not only you have torestart the tours of duty but you have to do it with a fresh pilot, which means all the patches earned doing historical combat missions and the training grounds are voided too.

But you keep the medails, patches and ribbons. You "only" lose your rank if I am not mistaken. But that is still really harsh.

Yeah, but the thing it that if you lose the points you might not be able to rank up with the remaining missions so essentially if you want to get to general unless you lost your pilot relatively early the best way is start with a new pilot since you cannot reset the campaign for the current pilot.

Ah, now I get what you mean. Yes, that is indeed a problem. So I guess I'll then use the backup solution. Because the orignal save system is just unfair.

Thank you!
