Sound stutters no matter what I do in the config file or launch options with X Wing and TIE fighter will not recognize my Force Feedback 2. I don't want to play the 98 versions, but all my Google searches have yielded nothing that works. I've lost hours of my life trying to sort this.

Please help me Obi Wan Forumobi, you're my only hope.

Have you seen the video linked in this post? Some useful advice for tweaking the game.

EDIT: That's for X-wing, here's the same deal for TIE Fighter:

Thanks for the reply. Yes I've seen those, but they didn't help.
I've got the joystick working in TIE fighter, I just have to wait until I'm ingame and then press ALT-C to calibrate it and it then works.
The sound's still choppy in X-Wing though, no matter what I do.

Have you tried playing with the cycles settings? Sometimes speed issues can lead to choppy sound. Is it only the sound effects that are choppy, or is the music also choppy?
