Hello!

I am playing through the GOG CD 1994 version of X-wing and I met a bug that is truly game breaking.

I even wonder how it is possible that it was never addressed before in any way.

The bugs are actually two but perhaps they are connected to each other.

The first: the tugs do not move one millimeter and therefor they never dock to the B-Wings, making it impossible to complete the mission. Second, the corvette that should come to lend a hand (whose mission is one of the mission objectives) sometimes appears but most times does not.

Anyone has ever experienced the same?

Any possible fix?

It feels so unfair - after struggling to go through a number of absurdly difficult missions where the odds are just a joke, to have to stop playing because a bug like this breaks the game.

There are two solutions:
If you have the English version, you'll probably need to reduce DOSBox's CPU cycles.

If you have the German version, then you need the Fix I've released. In that version, many missions from the B-Wing expansion are broken for some reason.

Thank you for your reply, FekLeyrTarg!

I have the English version of the game so I will try your first suggestion.

I am very curious about the fix you released though: why does it require the German version to work?
Good luck.

As I said above, in the German version, many missions of the B-Wing expansion are broken. The problem lies with the mission files themselves. In the English version, those files are just fine so you don't need my fix.
I am having the same problem with this mission as well. I am playing the X-Wing collectors CD version on Mac OS X. The tugs never move so I cannot move past the mission.

I realize from reading the comments that I need to reduce the CPU cycles to get this mission to work. However there is no apparent way to do this using the software gog has supplied.

I also tried downloading a seperate boxer application and cannot get the game to load. It keeps saying "X-Wing CD not Found!" At least here I can see where I can change the setting however the game will not load.

So is my game finished? I put a lot of work in and to have it end here because of a stupid bug is very upsetting.

With Boxer, try telling it to load “START.BAT”. That file tells DOS where the X-Wing CD is located, then loads bwing.exe.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I just tried it and somehow managed to fry my game. Thankfully I was able to re-Install and my game data was still there.

I feel like an idiot.
Hello, one year later, is there any fix for this? I can't figure out how to reduce CPU cycles using the gog.com software, and I tried DOSbox but almost fried my game.

I can't imagine people have downloaded this game from GOG and not had this problem. Maybe it is only the Mac version?

There should be a patch made available to fix this. If not, refunds should be offered since the game is broken.

As far as I know, the Gog package uses DOSBOX already (certainly on PC, i imagine the same is true for Mac), so using a manual install shouldn't make any difference; don't the usual hotkeys work for you?

Thanks for the tip! I'll try the hot keys when I play later.
The hotkeys don't work unfortunately.

For some reason the emulation menu doesn't give the option to change CPU cycles (see picture)

I'm starting to think this might be a Mac problem. oh well. Would love to play the B-Wing missions.

So I finally got this working. I downloaded a fresh copy of Boxer. In order to get the game to load you need to eject the virtual CD drive BEFORE running start.bat. From here I was able to lower the CPU cycles (I used 20000) and complete B-Wing Tour 5 Op. 2

The tugs moved and the game still runs perfect! While I was messing around in Boxer I figured out to make a backup of my pilot and also make a bunch of TOPACE pilots. Basically cheat like the old days lol

Thanks and sorry for all the complaining up thread!
I just ran into the same problem, and I hope someone can help.

I'm running the game on Mac, the hotkeys don't work, I can't find any .config files to edit, it's not the german version, and I've tried the seperate boxer app without successfully getting the game to load after changing the cycles....

Any help or suggestions will be deeply appreciated.
