Does any body know how to change the config on recharging weapons. I know it's F9 and F10, but on my PC that is the controls for adjusting volume? Any suggestions? Thanks!

I do not think its possible to reconfig the keys, iirc they are hard coded back then.

My laptop had an option in the bios (system setup) so I could set it that I had to hold my FN key and F9 to change volume, rather than just pressing F9 for volume. I am assuming this is a laptop, you might google how to change it so you can hold FN and F9 to change volume, or maybe FN and F9 will make F9 expect the way you want it to
Digression: I hate it when laptop keyboards put laptop controls on the standard keys and lock F1-F12 behind the FN key.

If it's the DOS version, you can use the dosbox mapper included with the emulator that the game is running on. To access it with the laptop you press and hold ctrl (right or left, you pick), the fn (function access key), and f1 (it might be a ? for you or something else, but it's the key right next to escape on most keyboards). If it's not a laptop, then access it by pressing and holding ctrl and F1. Pressing this combination of keys should let you gain access to the mapper.
This allows one to re-map keys to one's choosing. the "r" key can be changed to the "t" key if one so desired. One can even have multiple keys to the one key by adding them with the "Add" button. Click it, then press the key you want to add as a binding to the event key. I bound the F9 and F10 keys to the left and right, respectively, back shoulder buttons on my controller.
Now, if you're talking about the Windows, 1998, version, you can't do it, because it's running under windows, not an emulated DosBox. I haven't tried it, but I think one can re-map those keys in the keyboard screen; may need help with some suggestions if possible. The only thing that is being emulated for the Windows games is the cd-rom itself. It's the only thing that fails the checksum if the Tie Fighter System analyzer is run (that's in the files, kids). the same program even checks for 3d on your video card. If the cd-rom wasn't hacked into the files, the game wouldn't play, so someone did some good work to get it running.
As I said in a previous post, I'm glad we got what we did.
It's the fans keeping this thing alive.
If the laptop keyboard remains uncooperative, would it be possible to use an external keyboard (plug it into a USB port) and bypass the locked F9 and F10 function keys completely?
