haydenaurion: Edit: Okay i'm stupid, last time I tried I'76 was before they split the base and expansion apart. :P The updated installers might fix it.
Quite possible. I also played it before it was split, too, but I used Nvidia Inspector to limit the game to 30 FPS (which worked very well for me). I've not tried the new installers, but if you do give them a go, do let us know what your experience is.
Okay, having tried 29.5 FPS, it did take a few moments to get used to the not so smooth feel to the game, but the gameplay was by far much better. I can now see what everyone meant by those fast bobbing probe droids in the first mission, and more importantly, Gall Spaceport WAS PLAYABLE! I was no longer sliding all over the place when going downhill. Previously I lost 5 lives on that one level. This time I only lost 2, and one of those was completely my own mistake.

So, I'm now a supporter for the 30 FPS limit cap change.

Sadly the new I'76 installers still have physics problems, most notably the mortars and flamethrower not working properly. The Nvidia inspector fix doesn't work here unfortunately. I'm guessing I'76 is more dependent on CPU than GPU to run?

Hmm, I definitely used it for my fix, and I did play with mortars and flamethrowers, too.

Firstly, I extracted nGlide 1.04 over the top of the GOG installation to give it a more up to date version than was included at the time (no idea which version the current installers provide). Then in the nGlide settings I had vsync turned on. In the Nvidia Inspector profile I was using either something like 29 or 30 FPS. Current options seem to be 29.5 and 30.5.

I was on an old Vista machine, though that machine died in January this year so I now have a new PC. Depending on how recent your graphics card is, and what refresh rate your monitor is, you might be able to try adaptive vsync with a half refresh rate (so with a 60 Hz monitor you'd get 30 FPS).

I have nGlide installed in general, but not overtop of the I'76 install.

Tried the vsync settings, but they didn't work.

Hang on, let's move this discussion here: https://www.gog.com/forum/interstate_series/nglide_nvidia_inspector_fix

Hear that, GOG? I can only repeat: The game runs definitely too fast with 60fps. I'm at Gall Spaceport myself now and I'm dying all the time...
This is very strange, I have a Radeon 7770 Ghz edition card and I don't have any problem with the GOG version.

Do other people with amd cards have the same problems or is it just Nvidia users?

Gonna have to parrot this; Gall Spaceport and the swoop section are brutal. I'm not happy with the swoop controls or mouse controls in general though. (mouse should only control camera, not move the player; 'a" and "d" should be able to control movement on the swoop so all the movement controls can be wasd and camera controls are arrow keys instead of split between the two for movement. It's just kind of jarring.

No idea what I'd want to assign for the kicks, but I guess if the mouse movement is turned off you wouldn't need the turn keys, and the left/right click could be left/right kick.)

Edit: Should mention I'm on a crappy Intel HD Graphics 4000, so an Nvidia profile fix doesn't exactly help me...

Yeah, I can't beat the swoop level on any frame rate setting using mouse & keyboard or gamepad. Never had this much trouble with the level in the original N64 version.

On my other pc I use a Radeon 5950 and it's exactly the same problem, nothing NVidia-specific imho. How do the droids at the beginning of the first part of Hoth act in your version? Don't they jump up and down too fast? I think that's a good benchmark to see the problem. The game is playable with 60 fps, but it gets really brutal once you reach Gall Spaceport.
Thank you! Thank you! I had real trouble defeating Boba. I now switched to 30.5 FPS via NVidia Inspector and finally he behaves at a resonable speed. The strange behavior when walking downhill is gone as well. So I have to admit: 60 FPS is definitely not the way this game should be run.

Actually I took another crack at it and found it pretty easy once you get used to using left and right arrow keys. I tabbed the camera to first person to make it easier though.

The biggest problem is really the auto aim...it doesn't work at all whilst using the jetpack, and any floating enemy you'll be lucky to hit at all. Boba and Slave I killed me the most out of any boss, but what's actually killed me the most are any of the floating droids. It's just impossible to get the auto aim to tag them since they bob up and down.

That and during the Outrider shooting levels the aim always pulls back to center slightly so it's impossible to accurately follow a fighter to line up your shot. I've checked it in the cockpit view as well so there's definitely some slight tug for some reason.

Are you able to move the ship during the first stage of the Skyhook battle by the way? No matter what I do or try I get shot down within 20 seconds tops so if Leebo is supposed to be piloting he ain't doing jack. Seriously though, is this just me? I get pelted with too many shots way too quick on Medium, and I'm guesing my inability to accurately track the fighters isn't helping matters <_<

The swoop level is the only part i'm having trouble with so far, i'll try the arrow keys as I didn't know you could move with them. Thanks.

No, you can't move the ship during part one of the Skyhook level, only after that. It's been a long time since i've played any version of the game, but i'm guessing by your previous posts that you're unable to lower the frame rate due to having integrated graphics only which is probably why you are dying so soon into the level.

The droids bouced up and down fast on my old Pentium II with a Matrox G100 and later a TNT2 M64 as well, I really don't see a difference, I've also played level 2 and the speed is exactly as I remember.
I still have to get to Gall spaceport, mostly because I'm still ttrying to get through the first level without using up lives.
You can set a framerate limit with RivaTuner Statistics Server included in MSI Afterburner. It should work on any hardware.
