I envy the people who are having problems with the game crashing on the main menu, because I can't even get that far. The game won't even boot up for me. When I try to run the game, I get a blue spinning circle on my cursor for a few seconds, and if I look at my Task Manager I can see it booting into memory, but then it just stops. No error or anything.

Anybody know how to fix this problem?

I've got the same problem.
remove your save directory
Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\Save

try running Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\System\unrealed.exe after, if it also crashes not sure what to tell you -- (state your hardware, system maybe dxdiag but censor private data from it) inside of unrealed you can go to view>advanced options and test settings - sometimes you can do great things there -- the options will be saved to your profile.

You can also try removing \Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\Movies\ (movie files) i remember it caused crashes in past for few people.

Yeah, didn't work for me either :/ Got to the splash screen on UnrealEd, but it crashed almost instantly. Deleting Movies and Save directories didn't seem to do anything.
DxDiag (Trying to post the whole thing seems to get GOG stuck processing the post)

Thanks for your tips, but it is not working fo me..
Very odd, i myself have 7990 and works without problems. Could you check you catalyst options and if the drivers are up to date (omega)
it still doesn't work :-(
can't help much more, you'd need to create a ticket for support.
but post event log for crash.

did you already and if not,
could you try to start game directly from Star Wars - Republic Commando\GameData\System\SWRepublicCommando.exe?

CyklonDX: did you already and if not,

No it doesn't work, it would be too simple :)
I sent a ticket in to GOG support a few days back, and this is the response I received:

Hello

I apologize for the late reply.
1) Please make sure that you use "Run as Administrator" to install and to start the game (right-click on the shortcut or setup file and select "Run as Administrator").

2) Please reinstall the game and add it to your anti-virus/firewall software's exception/trusted list.

3) Install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package, then use the DirectX web installer.

You can find the archive file containing the 2010 package installation files here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
You will have to extract the files into some folder, then open that folder and launch the DXSETUP.exe file in order to proceed with the installation.

Afterwards, download the latest DirectX web installer and use it as well:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
4) Please make sure that your graphics card drivers are not forcing any settings upon the game. To do this, right-click an empty area on your desktop and go to:
NVIDIA Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings
and click “Restore”.

Regards
Genoan

Unfortunately, none of these suggestions seemed to work for me, but maybe some of you will have better luck.
Well, seems like I`m not the only one! game is fine on main screen but crashes on `new game`. I tried the `Run as Admin`- didn`t work. I`ll try the others and see if that works...

Annoying.

Have you tried setting bump-mapping to low? I hear that fixes the crash on new game issue.

WOW. Yea that did it. Nothing else but that.

Thank you very much!

p.s. by the way, how do I rep here? It doesn`t seem to work like in other forums.
