Hello, I've got a Sound Blaster X-Fi card but EAX is disabled in the game. I have tried Creative Alchemy but it didn't solve it. How do I enable EAX?

Thanks.

I have the game on Steam, but this doesn't change much. The thing is simple: since Vista/Win7 these old EAX, A3D an dother sound effects are disabled. No longer supported. There is workaround and trciks. Anyway, because of this I had an Asus Xonard DSX soundcard, this - and other Xonar series - can emulate EAX for many games. Called GX .25 version, but sadly certain game like this has a price. Got a surround sound but dialogues mute and drops. :(

Damn. Was hoping there'd be a fix. Would've loved to replay this game in all its former glory(bump mapping included). RIP Windows XP!

If you mean "EAX 3.[2] ...\GameData\System\System.ini > UseDefaultDriver=False ", this does not seem to work. EAX 3.0 is available in the menu but as soon as the game is restarted to apply the setting it shows as being OFF again. I tried setting the System.ini file to read-only before the restart but it didn't work either.

I actually got the 3d Audio and EAX setting to stick by using the alchemy app and pointing to the gamedata/system folder in the republic commando folder installed through gog galaxy. Alternatively I copied both dsound.dll and dsound.ini to that folder. I tested both methods and they seem to work fine. Audio cues are great on my X-Fi Go!.
Take a look at the link in this post for help with EAX setup.
