What gives you that warning? I can download the file via Chrome without problems and it passes normal Google virus scan.
The file is stored on my Drive and it didn't change since uploading ;)
Never mind. Runs fine in windowed mode.

Small tip for those who have trouble with windowed mode hiding the bottom of the game:

1. Download and run "winexp" ( www.nirsoft.net/utils/winexp.html )
(no installation required).
2. Move the "WinExplorer" window into the top-left corner of your
screen (otherwise you won't find it during the next step)
3. Start SWRebellion (my settings on shortcut: " -w" switch,
Compatibility: Run in 640x480)
4. Immediatly ALT+TAB to WinExplorer, click "Refresh"
5. Select "Star Wars Rebellion [STARWARS_REBELLION]"
in the list
6. at the bottom switch to "Style"
7. deselect "WS_DLGFRAME"
8. close WinExplorer or ALT-TAB back to Rebellion, you'll have
no titlebar in the window!

BONUS TIP

If you're using the tip by korell ( www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_rebellion/change_resolution/post7 ) then you may have ugly grey borders around the centered Rebellion screen. You can rid yourself of them by additionally selecting
"Size & Position" > "Window State" > Maximized
after Step 7

First, thank you Thiev for the patch!

I can play in windowed mode and everything looks good except my window is too small and I can't make the game full screen. Right now, it's only taking up a quarter of the screen. Any ideas?

Just a general "thanks!" to GOG for improvements like this and the Outlaws music fix. ;)

Unfortunately game has fixed resolution of 640x480 and won't get bigger. Best thing you can do, is to right click on the exe file -> properties -> compatibility and check 'run in 640x480'.

The check boxes will not allow me to remove the check from the boxes. Any idea as to why that would be?
Downloaded this, tried some of the fixes listed here and nothing worked. Still upside down and discoloured and all of that. I wasn't able to try some of the fixes that are a bit "technical", as I wasn't sure what the hell I was doing.

Bear in mind, I must confess, that I'm pretty useless with computers. So I would need a fix that can be explained to me in layman's English that might fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Thiev: Another file to try: >clicky<
- rename or copy original REBEXE.EXE somewhere safe (in case sth won't work)
- download the file from link above and put it in the game folder
- rename [win]REBEXE.EXE to REBEXE.EXE
- try to launch it directly, if it works, try with GameRanger

It's UNTESTED!! So, if you have any saves and whatnot, backup everything beforehand.

Blackvenym: The .EXE posted above fixes the upside down items but the game is now windowed and not "borderless" windowed, (Hope that makes sense) seems playable, only a part of the right and bottom of the window are off the screen.

wassermann: There is a nice thread about this issue on swrebellion forum, including (possible) fix. Basically just use ddraw.dll that is mentioned in the thread or run it in windowed mode. That dynamic library worked for me (altough I do not have the gog edition).

Can´t post links so the site is forums.swrebellion.com, name of the thread "Problems with Rebellion on WIN8". Just google it. Sorry if this has been mentioned before.

Blackvenym: Are those forums still online? I am unable to access anything when trying to go to that site? I would like to try that .dll
Hello I am not sure if this is the right place but... I am running WIndows 10 and have Star Wars Rebellion saved as a .iso. I mounted and can not figure out how to install from there. Help is appreciated thank you!

So, it's been 3½ years...

I've been struggling with this issue. Found this thread. Also couldn't remove the check for the boxes.

Solution: Run winexp as administrator.

bczretribution: After playing a bit by myself with the game running fine I decided to play against a friend. I found in another thread on this forum that to do that we needed to use gameranger. Game ranger runs fine and we can get a game running no problem. however game ranger requires you point it at an .exe, not a shortcut. so this means that i have to play upside down. unless anyone has been able to figure out another way to solve this. alternatively if anyone can tell me the necessary ports the game uses to play I might be able to host a game without game ranger which would also solve the problem.

Thiev: I'm not sure if this will work, but you may give it a try:
Please download the file here and put it in the game folder (where REBEXE.EXE is).
Try to launch it - if the game starts correctly, you can point Gameranger to it.

I didn't test it though. If it won't work I'll try to think of something else on Monday ;)
Hello Thiev,
This old file has been used countless times but now it disappeared. Are you still around? Would you consider placing this somewhere more official, like a GOG repository or even official patch?
