pigdog: Thank you all for the replies.

I'm still on the lower level of Taris so therefore am expecting plenty of opportunities to level up. First impressions are how similar it is to Mass Effect....or, Mass Effect is similar to KOTOR.

Good stuff so far except the dodgy hands dealt my way when playing Pazaak.

tinyE: Yeah, they cheat at Pazaak. If you are having trouble you might wait a while; you'll get the chance for some better cards later on Taris.
Those cheating bastards!
To be honest, I hate the Pazaak mini-games. I usually save my game before trying one and start over if I'm not lucky enough to get the best cards right away.

And yes, KotOR was obviously a big influence for many future BioWare titles. Which is a good thing.

Urnoev: You should definitely train Persuade though, since this is the only skill that only the player can learn. And it should be mentioned that only the Scout class can train Persuade from the first second in the game. All Jedi classes can train Persuade later on, but you'll become a Jedi a few hours in and miss some dialogue for about 20% of the game. That mechanic led to me choosing the Scout every time, no matter what I want to play as, but that's a personal preference.
I managed to succeed at every Persuade check I attempted on Taris as a level 2 Scoundrel with 16 Charisma (I was saving XP for Jedi levels later on - easy difficulty would allow even that weak a character to get through all the combat quests on Taris as well... with enough grenades :P).

Still managing them later on as a Jedi Guardian - just putting my 1 skill point per level into the skill and getting the Empathy feats as they become available.

It's complete BS that they always go first in 1. They did fix that for 2.

That's not half of it. The only time I ever play is on Taris when you have to beat that Russian dude 5 strait times to get the quest completed. I had him 2 sets to none and on three strait sets he hit on a 19 and got a 1.

THAT IS STATISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!!!! :O
Is the Sith Mask worth using points on the armor upgrade?

No, unless you like the look. At least I always went with different head gear later on.
