So of course I'm getting a double whammy :-/

I'm getting the nefarious crash after character creation. Went through all the fixes.
- I have disabled all advanced graphics options
- I am running in admin mode and compatibility mode for Vista SP2&3
- I tried running in 650x480 screen resolution but it made the game run in fullscreen (?)
- I have installed TSLRCM
- I have disabled movies
- I am running in windowed mode

Those last two are interesting
So I set up .ini to run in windowed mode as directed. This got me past character creation. Whoopie, right? Wrong. Movies are still enabled so now the game crashes after the intro. Okay, no biggie. Just disable movies, right? Wrong again. Now I'm back to crashing at char create >.<

This is what my .ini file looks like

Is there *anything* wrong here? I notice there is another Disable Movies in Game Options that nobody's made mention of in any of the threads I've seen.

As the thread title indicates I am (trying) to run on an Asus laptop running Win7 with a Intel 3000. A few reports claim the Intel 3000 makes it impossible, other threads are dedicated to specific fixes claiming to make it run. As per system requirements only the Graphics fail to meet recommended.

Don't play games with Intel graphics, especially older games that already have issues with new hardware. Just don't.

So that's what I can't do, but I'm more interested in what I can do.

I've installed the game on my newer Lenovo (also an Intel chipset) and it appears to run. So unless anyone can identify an error with my .ini file here I can just leave it at that.

Do you expect to fit a square peg into a round hole? Intel is the round hole. Many people with non-intel cards still have issues wtih KoTOR / KoTOR 2 graphics, and some other games too. It generally seems to hinge around movies, which makes me suspect the .bik software that was used years ago does not play nice with drivers of today.

There's nothing wrong with your ini file. It has low settings, but I see nothing out of place.
From 'Pale Rider' with Clint Eastwood:

The Preacher: "Nothing like a good piece of hickory."

I love you, man.
Case Closed.
