there is a binkw error that pops up when i try to run it. What am i missing

Vanilla GOG install won't even launch for me. I click Play, nothing happens for a sec, Play changes to Syncing 0%, then back to Play again.

Fast Forward several hours of tweaking ini settings, updating graphics drivers, deleting and replacing DLLs, and generally mucking about in the guts of the computer and I finally come to the forums for help and the first thread I read contains the solution. Game will launch now, even if fullscreen is broken as hell.

Thank you so much for posting this, time to relive my childhood.

Other than the steam api coming up as a high threat virus it seems to work fine. Is there cause for genuine concern with this?

this patch removed EAX for me is that normal?

Are you using "Flawless Widescreen" KOTOR II mod? If not grab it, that should sort the screen out hopefully (pretty sure it keeps getting updates every now and then so should cover most resolutions and screen sizes I should think). Last I checked it worked with this Aspyr/Steam mod too.

No. This whole thread is still about warez crack for steam version (re-released in steam in 2015 with multiplatform\4k support - not original steam release). Completely irrelevant to this GOG forum.

Original digital DRM-free exist... And easy one to obtain - is GOG version, since Steam drm-free is not available. Current 2015 Steam version is steamclient.dll DRM protected. There is no Aspyr\anyone who made any real updates except DRM (and there is no any else DRM-free).

GOG version is not original as well, include some more recent compatible\improvements updates, but from about 2012 year. And it keep DRM-free.

Getting this game to run is quite a hassle :(

The Aspyr update has a few issues. Notably the audio skipping bug is worse, and the seemingly accidental removal of the DisableVertexBufferEffects setting in the files caused lightsaber hilt mods to break. If you want to revert to the pre-Aspyr version of the game, and you've installed it in GOG Galaxy, you can go to the game's settings, go to "Manage installation", and then "Configure..." From there you can move back to the previous version. I don't know of a way to do that for the manual offline installer, though.

Any mods that don't affect lightsaber models or (possibly) lighting should work fine with either version.
