Does the GOG version have the restored content in it, or do I still have to go download it and install it myself?

You still need to download and install it yourself, unfortunately.
Does the GOG version of KotOR 2 have this patch update by default now like Steam or do you still need to manually obtain and install this?

I think the gog version never received the Aspyr's patch, i.e. the version that's on steam. Sucks if you ask me, as I have no idea what's the hold up here. Probably some kind of bureaucracy.
I bought these games during the winter sale expecting to get the best (DRM-free) version. Kinda miffed finding out the Steam version is so superior...

If you think Steam is DRM Free, you're sadly mistaken. Also, this whole thread is about getting the exact same update that steam has.

Did you even read any posts, or just shilling for Steam on GoG's forums?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! using the patch file above, I was able to fix my game and it is now running! Thanks again!

Hi guys, the game asks me for steamapi.dll, I am using GOG, any clues?
steamapi.dll keeps being accused as trojan virus and is being deleted every time in my computer (maybe someone had this "genius" idea to do that. )

maybe your antivirus deletes it before you can launch

Thank you so much I don't get why this isn't included in the GOG version it's pretty much necessary to make the game run.
I just installed this and now my KOTOR 2 crashes every time. I am now reading the trouble shooting guide.
